Is it the same brand of CD-R as the other ones you have that work?
I have noticed that some brands won't play on some of my players, while other brands will. I figured out one that works on everything I own and bought a couple 100 disc spindles of them so I don't have to worry about it ever again.

One thing you need to make sure of is that you don't use one of those paper labels that you affix on top of a CD. Those can throw off the balance and weight of the CD like crazy ... Brand of course is also very important. I've been using Fujifilm CD-Rs (Made in Japan - Taiyo Yuden OEM), and they seem to work well in my player.
If you want to go more expensive you could always go Mitsui Gold, or Verbatim DataLife Plus, but those are a lot more expensive.
I think all Fujifilm media is on sale this week at Bestbuy (50% off their normal price). Something like $7.50 for 50.
If you're not sure what brand your CD-R is, you can find out the OEM by using a program like this one ... CD-R Identifier is free, and pretty good at telling you what company made your CD-R and what dye was used.

Burn it at a slower speed. Whenever i burn something at 24x it skips like that too. Turn the speed down to about 8 or 12x and try it. I've yet to have one that was burned at 8x skip on me.
