CCC Taillight Tints, opinions.

I was just about to order 03 tail lights at ccc net and I saw these. Anybody have these? Are they hard tinted plastic? I still like the 03 tails better.

From how you stated it, im not sure if you know that it is just a tint film you put over the top white section not an actual replacement for the light housing. It is the 03 lights just with the white tinted.

Does this tint go on the exterior or inside the lens?

I've been thinking about it as well. A much cheaper alternative to the '03 swap.

I just tinted my driving lights to match my 03 headlights and I used Night Shades spray and, I must admit to my surprise, they turned out perfect! The front of the car looks so much better now that the lights all match.

I actually have the tint film for the tails, but I really believe that using the spray would be the better and easier way to go.

When you use the stuff, practice a bit first and then when you are ready do the following:

Clean the surface very well. Try and angle the piece to be sprayed at a 45 degree angle. Start spraying without hitting the lens and then just smoothly move the can across the light as you continue to spray. Do very thin coats and once you get the coat on turn the light so that the sprayed surface is horizontal to prevent any dripping. I did about three coats on the driving lights and they turned out just a hint darker than the 03 headlights. It looks great. I think I will eventually do this for the tails, just tape the midline and spray them down.

Yeah i was thinking about the tail tints too, i have an anthracite CL so if i think it would look nice. But i do like the way they are now too, they really light up the road when your in reverse, makes it easyer to see down dark driveways.

Anyone know what tint % would most closely match anthracite?

Here is the tint that I used on my road lamps to match my 03 headlights. Unlike typical tint, 100% of the light shines through.. Here it is with only the 1 side done. I used that dot-matrix looking tint, where it is a piece of black vinyl with lots of holes in it.

On the Acura painted bodykit? ... Checkout the fine print:

" *Kit will NOT fit without fabrication...
Professional installation recommended"

Its the Acura OEM TL kit. But people have gotten it modified to fit on a CL.

I think I like it. Where do you get tint, dot matrix or otherwise. Would window tint be the same thing? I have the 03 anthracite and added the roadlamps. Is the rear tint just like window tint?

OK...so this tint goes on the outside of the rear lens right...if so how durable is it. Meaning does it adhere good or will it eventually fall off or come off when washing??

Its not the same material like window tint ... I think its made of vinyl ... I know the RSX guys use a red vinyl like that to 'red out' their tail lights (gets rid of the yellow on their tails). Don't think any of them have complained about the vinyl falling off.

Hey all... sorry, just saw this topic (been busy the last few days).

We've sold a few of these to members, so there should be pics floating around similar to the one Smitty posted. As for the durability... so far so good. Dean from VR has had them on his CL for over a year with no problems (that's actually his pic in Smitty's post... and he has the dark tint). Keep in mind that they are really made for the 2003 Tails since you're tinting the clear part. If you have a 2001 or 2002 you can tint the whole tail with them if you buy two kits... but I wouldn't just do half b/c it would look wierd.

One of these days when I have some time I'm actually going to try to fit them to my TL to see how that looks. I know they'll fit (since it's just a sheet with instructions), so I'll use the same instructions from the CL and see how it looks. I'm thinking it should be sweet.

I tried using window tint on my road lamps. But when they were on, you could hardly see the bulb. It looked worse then the stock bulbs looked.

I got the dot matxis stuff from a Vinyl sign store. I hat to get a 2 feet x 2 feet sheet. But it worked great. They look tinted, but yet when on, you can see all of the natural light.
