Cats or no Cats?
I have a 2001 CL-S. I am doing the entire exhaust system from the headers back. I am wondering what others have done on their acura in the area of the cats and how well it worked. I am thinking about totally removing the cats or using a high flow after market.

High flow might be legal, no cats at all, good luck in Philly...
Or you can blame it on the streets saying you had them but they were ripped off after you hit a major pothole and you couldnt afford to put them back on right away.

This topic has been discussed numerous times...
The only way your going to see any kind of Horsepower gains is if your are running forced induction (Supercharger) or Turbo.
Rule of thumbs is.. anything under 400whp needs backpressure to keep you from losing critical low end torque...
I am working on an exhaust cut out..(IF it ever gets done by my exhaust guy)

Tried the Randomtech cat and I gained about 4-5 hp peak but lost a solid 15 lbs of torque throughout the entire band on the dyno and the results were worse with no cat.
I got rid of the Randomtech and went back to stock.
Our backpressure is critical on the CL.

trust me when i tell you, i have tried every exhaust combination for my TL. Loosing the cat will make you loose so much torque. What gave me the most power and gained me a couple lb ft of tq was keeping the stock cat, going 2.25 to the y, using a highflow magnaflow y inlet 2.25 out let 2.5, then going 2.5 for the axel back. Another setup that gave me a nice amount of more torque, but kept me only a little higher than stock HP was a 2.25 inch going to one muffler with dual outlets. The dual outlets came out of the back into the tips and looked like a regular exhaust. That setup was my favorite, but was loud as hell, not ricey loud, but hey look at me i want a ticket loud. Keep in mind that both setups had a 22 inch magnaflow resonator. Also i have a tl-p so i will see more power gains from exhaust than a type s owner, because you guys have free flowing exhaust vs my straw sized pipes.

I also have the Random tech cat. It has performed great on the car(13.68 @ 102.56). With the increased boost and I/C on the way I'm sure it will help even more.
