Question Cat Delete?

Im considering getting a cat delete for my stock 01 CL type S! Am I wasting my time getting this cat delete? Does it make any difference?

I think a high flow cat is a much better option

Not as much power as a cat delete, though I doubt youll notice a difference. You also dont get that nasty smell from the exhaust or the soot all over your bumper. And you can still pass inspection and won't get a CEL.

you're not wasting your time ... you just starting out in the wrong direction... get headers /cold air intake/light crank pulley for much better bang for the buc mods ...look at my mod list i probablly should have and would have did a hi flow ... but never did

I've had a bunch of cars with no cat, and the CL didn't have one for about two weeks. The exhaust note was buzzy and tinny...a lot like a standard Honda. The smell was also about the worst I've smelled of any of my non-catted cars. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I had a magnaflow HFC welded in and life is good again. Don't do it.

I am debating removing my cat.... I like the noise but I want a deep tone import tone (not High). I have a pair of OBX type R mufflers and I am having a hard time deciding whether I should
a. just have the 2.5 piping from the cat-back with the mufflers or...
b. Cut the cat and run 2.5 piping with the 2 mufflers in the rear...

mufflers will give you the sound. I would throw in a magnaflow cat and a resonator. There will be a lot of rasp/resonance with no cat and no resonator.

As others mentioned here a while back, a high flow cat might be a better option. You wont risk having any rasp or excessive noise. You also won't turn your bumper black or fail emissions testing for not having a cat.

here is what i run

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fit-98-02-Accord-V6-NON-Cat-Converter-Catless-Stainless-Straight-Test-Pipe-/201255611645?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2001%7CModel%3AAccord&hash=item2edbc4ecfd&vxp=mtr

the black ones smeel too bad

EDIT: get someone to cut the bolts off with a torch aswell... since you will not be able to get the bolts off, DO NOT LET THEM WELD THE PIPE ON
it will ruin future exhaust upgrades.

I got the xlr8 high flow cat me that made a hell of a difference in sound and u lose a bit of low end and gain top end for sure. U get rasp around 3 k under medium throttle .

I think a full delete would be a bit extreme for a daily driver to say the least

Oh and you can pass smog still! I got it tested last year and it passed by a decent amount too

My
Considering the platform I do think it's a waste of time. You will gain a louder exhaust. Any performance gain would be tiny. BTW all cats made these days are "high flow" so paying extra for a cat labelled high flow is wasting money. If your old cat is partially clogged a new stock cat is going to be an improvement. If you want something that flows more than stock then a larger cat would do it.

I agree, the lager size would make it flow better, and make it maybe sound a little different, that part im not sure of. I took the one off my old car and put it back on in a couple of days due to the drone. I got a universal one that was for a V8 and got the pipe reducers to make it fit and it had a deeper sound, and it seemed to have better response, but that could have been because it sounded better, and I was getting into it more too..

custom exhaust

I ended up deleting the cat. I am pleased! Not obnoxiously loud but definitely not quite. 2.5 piping from the flex joint back to the rear, with a prefab 2.5 inlet/ outlet y pipe and the two OBX R mufflers! Smell is pretty strong when at the outside the car.

Lol you may have hearing damage. I could not live with my car with a 2.5 inch resonated b pipe and the high flow cat... B pipe was sold days after I installed it. It was hard to see a mod leave my car tho, what a weird feeling. I guess we all have our threshold

We are all different tho I'm just pokin at u.. Waaaaaa waaaaaaa.... She's loud

I wouldn't trust buying your HFC from ebay. I've heard some bad stories of people not getting what was advertised. When you purchase a part from us, you know you're getting a quality product

Our High Flow Cat is only $299:

I can vouch for xlr8.. It fit like a glove. He also recommended the curved defouler so it has enough slack on the wire to not need modification....because the car will give you a CEL.

We can't guarantee you will, but as CL-S progression 01 said, most of our customers pass emissions just fine.

I've passed Houston emissions testing with a $50 ebay cat. Houston has tough emissions testing.
