What kind of info gets reported to carfax, I looked up my vin and it said there were 5 reports to look at. I didnt want to pay to see what they were... Anyone have it and could look up this vin? 1HGCG5541XA136208

I looked up mine and it said i have 1 report. I only had the car for liek 6 weeks and no accidents or anything, I think you get 1 report per year cause our lexus has 3 and its a 2000 model

I think any kind of registration change will show up as a “report”.
When I was selling my Legend Coupe I almost freaked when it came up as 5 or something.

They were all from times I moved or when the car transferred ownership or the lean from the bank changed.

Not saying this is that case with your car, but it could be.

Well, my car has been in an accident, I was just wondering if that shows up in there?

I had a subscription for a couple years. It will tell you if it was registered as a lemon, has a salvage title, if there is a lien on it, etc. It will also give you the dates, title numbers, and places where it was titled. Won't say if it was in an accident unless it was totaled.

So if it says there are X number of reports on your car, after you pay the $20 it will says something like,

"Good News! Your car has belonged to you since it was new, and there is nothing we know about it that you don't!"

They count the title changes as a report, so even if you buy a car from your mother and know its history, that will count as a "report."

Also, there is a new title entry everytime you move, so even if the car doesn't change owners, it will still show up.

Hope that helps...

I did my previous car (98 Accord EX) and though I had 2 accidents with the car (reported to Police and repaired under insurance by Honda), it did not show up on CARFAX. Repair bill was over $2,000 in both cases.

I think CARFAX is good for checking odometer reporting, Lemon returns and salvage title cars...
