What's everyone's thoughts on carbon fiber hood and trunk together ?
I had hail damage to both pieces,and to fix and paint I'm looking at 1500 for the pair.
CF hood and trunk would be 1000 + install if they do not line up right.
I want them but, I'm almost feel like it would change my car from nice to rice.
So I don't know wich way I should go.
I know I would shed some weight and with all the sound deadening coming off the trunk lid.That's 20 lbs by it self. it should make a allmost feelible difference.

What would you do ?

 

CF hood and trunk aren't rice. Personally I would go the cf route. If you dont like the look of CF or it attracts too much attention you can always paint it to match body color.

 

i think it's nice too, but i don't think it looks good on SSM (even with prismatic flake). I think it looks better on darker colours if you leave the CF look. If you do it, paint it.

 

Seems the quality of the CF hood and trunks made for our vehicles leaves a bit to be desired in quality. Also think the CL-S looks goofy with hood pins. It's like having hood pins on a V6 Mustang.

my hood pins dont look goofy at all. their the flush mount pins. my hood (vis) fit perfectly fine. some trimming around teh grill bc of too much gel coating but that was minimal work. holding off on the trunk bc of fitment issues. dont know if civicdrivr ever got around to making it fit

 

Im getting to it....

+1 on the excess gel coat. I kept dremelling off bit by bit to finally get the grille to fit properly.

 

I would agree as well, a little CF, yes, but a lot? No.

 

RP, keep in mind youll save about 35lbs total if you do the hood and trunk, all for ~$1000. There are cheaper ways of shedding weight.

 

I dont think he cares about weight savings. HIs car his loaded with audio equipment if I remember correctly.

 

If i were you, then i would go to decalfx.com, and get the real carbon fiber finyl wrap if you want that look...

I i would get the carbon hood and trunk then if its gonna cost you that much to get it fixed. plus it will look cooler and more unique that way, especially if you get the roof done as well to match...

Well after adding hoods and trunks to carts and trying to hustle sellers, the cheapest deal I've got so far is 1016 shipped.

Anyone know where I can get these for cheaper ?

 

lol that is SO cheap already for a hood and trunk that's unheard of practically.

Every piece that I've bought for my car has been cheaper than any advertised price.
Even at bigger companys.Everyone has some flexibility you just got to do some searching and bs'n.

I will still search for a couple more days, I know theirs a seller that will go lower.

If anyone local to me (NC) has a "flawless" carbon hood and trunk I don't mind buying used but it has to be flawless.

 

When I had my CL I thought about it but minimal weight savings and maximum expenditure and possible fitment issues nixed the idea. Liked the look of them though. Then the car got stolen so I'm glad I didn't...

 

i am really worried about fitment which is why i opted not to get those, and whether the latches and everything will work properly and will the stock trunk cover still fit on... too many unanswered questions for me as well

 

What's everyone think looks beter.
Plain cf trunk or the cf trunk with a paint matched lip.
I'm thinking the trunk lip will bring the rear together.
Just a quick line of silver to see the look.
