car would start

I drove to work. About 45mins. Turned the car off. Went to a DnD for coffee/food. Came out. Went to start the car. The engine wouldn't start. I could hear it attemptting to turn over. I then put the accelarator down a little and tried to star the car and it worked?

Any ideas?????

yeah .. mine POS CL-S6 did that to me 2 weeks ago .. no start .. drove it 20 minutes before.. shut it off to clean up .. then back out .. and nothing .. no start .. starter turned .. but no start. Let the engine cool down (after several hours) .. and it started .. never owned a car with such a screwed up engine management system as this thing ..

Possibly the engine management system has a problem or maybe a screwed up ignition switch .ALternator comes to mind here too or even a battery .

I wasn't sure what year, but saw his location.

I saw the stock ground to motor cable when I was installing the S/C. About two Michigan winters would be enough for that pos, so I replaced it with a better cable.

Probably something else though anyways.

I think there is a Acura bulletin for that no start problem. I think you need to replace the ECU and a fuel pressure regulator. But I will double check on it asap and let you know.

Only the 2000 3.2TLs and the 2001 3. 2CLs required the fuel pressure regulator replacement.

The stock ground is a POS.....i was looking at it the other day an the wire is unshielded and is open to the elements. Ugh. I'm going to order the grounding kit from that dude who was selling them.

Quick question... did the engine sputter any while trying to start it? Down here we have a problem with soft carbon build up on the valves. Then again it only happens if the car is not driven for a couple of days or if you drive too soft. If either is the case, try a fuel additive. Even premium fuel, down here at least, can have that problem. Also, according to that tsb, a cold start or hot start, i.e. car sitting for too long or hot car shut off for too short of a period can cause that to happen too. Resolution for that is to depress the gas pedal about 1/2 to 3/4 down and turn the key. Don't know if this helps you. Just an idea.

Basically if you drive the car til warm up and shut it down. If it's only down for a few minutes and then restarted. What can happen is either the regulator is trying to recede the fuel that was unused or the pump is not ready to push the fuel back through the injectors at the rate that is needed. That's why it says to push the pedal 1/2 to 3/4 down when trying to start. But you want to do this (push the pedal) before turning the key. Kinda like priming the pump or regulator. I imagine it's cold in philly. From what I've been told, the cold causes it to happen more so than any other weather. I think it's called hot soak. Hot start was the only thing I could think of earlier.
