Lemme ask you this question..when you start your car, does it start right up? or does it like crank 1-2x before it starts? mine cranks like 2x before it starts..it's weird i also have a 99 civic and i turn the key and it's on..my 01 cl s is like crank crank and then it's on..any one have any ideas on what could be wrong with this? should i bother taking it to the dealer and have it checked out?

I've had the same problem, and I found out how to fix it from this board. Here's what they said:

When you start your CL, turn the key to the II position and hold it there for a second or two then crank it to start and it should start right off.

This seems to take care of the extra crank problem for me!!

You can thank Honda for our 10.5:1 compression ratio for that one. Very
typical for starting a high compression engine cold. The above mentioned should aid in starts, giving the fuel pump time to charge up.
