Try hardwiring it in. All you need is +12, -12, +5, -5, +3.3v of electricity for the box to run. Hard drive shock might be a problem along with the boot a power down sequence.

i have had a dell gx150 in my car for about 2 years and not had any problems, knock on wood i have a 7.8 in touch screen if you are interested her are some pics if you are interested Pics of computer install

I don't think u need to worry about harddrive shock on that computer. It probably has a slow laptop ~5200rpm harddrive that was designed to take shock.
