is this car a good deal?

Ok ... ive been carless for 4 weeks cuz my civic was stolen ... and ive been looking at more cars than you can imagine for those 4 weeks ... what else am i gunna do ... college is boring with no car ... and so anyway ... i started lookin at CL's but then found none that were good but then i found one that is a silver 2001 3.2cl with 45,573 miles askin $12,975 ... now im pretty sure i can get them down since ill be payin cash ... and use my salesman voice ... oh yeah ... but do you guys think this would be a good deal ... i wanted a 5 speed but i guess the SS is just basically the same ... i mean ... i want a car ... thanks for the input ... oh yeah ... i live in orlando so if i get the car i would love to meet others here with cl's.

Doesn't sound too bad at that price, I hope it is the CL-S version, (260 hp etc). All CLs were 5 speed automatics with sportshift, except in 2003 they offered a 6 speed manual shifter!! you;ll get a 100k mile warranty to cover the automatic tranny since they have had some problems with them.

Umm, there are only 6 speed manuals (only 2003) and 5 speed automatics, so that IS the 5 speed. There are no 5 speed manual transmissions for this car.

That price seems WAY below what it should cost. Run the vin number. It probably has a salvaged title. A few people have been trying to sell me cars with salvaged titles when I was shopping for a CLS.

If the title is clear, I'd deffinitely go for it!

I see the car on autotrader. It's not a Type S. so it is 225hp?, 16" rims, non-perforated leather seats, black face dash. Not too bad a price but the factory warranty (48 months) is probably up. try to get it certified from the dealer with a year warranty.
Oh yea, drive a CL type S before you buy this CL-P (Premium).

You're right it's not as good as a type s, but it's the best next thing. And for that price, even the non-type s is a steal...if it has a clear title.

If you wanna go fast, you can get that one, if you wanna go faster, get the type S. When the cars were new, the type S was only a couple of thousand more than the non-type s though, so unless you can find a type S under 15K, I'd go with that one.

If it's your daily driver car and you don't plan on modding it, I'd go with it.

That's the best deal I've seen so far. Your could have traded it right back in and gotten a few grand back

Great deal sixgearcl! welcome to the tiny 6speed/navi club.
You must have been very friendly to the salesperson!
I was happy on my deal 5 months ago I got a 6 speed/Navi anthracite with 7500 miles for $24k but had to go to OK to get it (from TX).

you'll regret not getting the type s, i test drove an 01 TLP before i bought my 02 CLS and boy, the difference with that extra horsepower and wheels are pretty noticable, the acceleration just isn't there, at least the kind of acceleration i wanted and was used too

Cause the resale on the CL is in the crapper, and whoever traded it in probably paid MSRP for the new car, so the dealer had some "wiggle" room on the CL.
