Car Fever.......

I think I found a good deal. This is at a local Lexus dealer and I got the itch REALLY BAD to check it out tomorrow. Shit I paid off my first gen about 8 months back and I really dont want a new note. Then again its got headers, intake and looks to be lowered already. I hate this.......

Is this a fair price?

Man that's sweet. Has a lot of nice mods already. It definitely has some kind of drop. I would guess Eibach. Looks too level to be comptech but could be. The 6-speed Type S is a killer machine!

also didn't mention the aftermarket shifter, but what is the reference to "daytime running lamps" all about?

Looks sweet. Do a title search just to be sure the car wasn't salvaged and rebuilt. It would be nice if you could track down the original owner. The car could have been abused so check carefully.

A few things stand out about the car:
1. 13K miles and the original tires have been replaced! I wonder if the owner replaced the original tires just to enhance the performance or if he wore them out in ~ 10K miles.
2. The mods were not prob installed on the car when it was sold. Otherwise the car would have most likely come with an Icebox instead of an AEM cai. The comptech headers and exhaust do cost $$ though so this car is still a pretty good value. I think it may have a comptech drop too (a 6 speed is lighter than an auto up front so the rake isn't as pronounced).
3. The leather on the drivers seat bottom has more wrinkles in it than the seats in my '01 CL-S did after 54K miles - especially near the forward edge of the seat bottom. It makes me wonder if the original seats were replaced from an accident or if the mileage is accurate.
4. Considering that the car was probably not modded by the dealer when it was sold the odds are decent that the car might have even belonged to someone on this forum. I'd ask around if I were you.
5.Whoever modded this car has pretty good taste. No rice, no spoiler, no mudguards, stock wheels, aftermarket tires. Apart from debadging the only mods to this car were made for the sake of performance. This thing looks so close to stock but it can run faster than a G35C!:P

Yes. 22k is a good price. BUT that's only the starting bid. The reserve is higher. There's no buy it now price, so no one 'cept the seller knows what the reserve is.

First, anyone would wanna change out the shitty stock michelins. And second, I've had an 03 cls 6 speed for 9 months now and my seats are in alot worse condition. Im not impressed at all by acura and their leather. I have a huge bubble in my driver seat the size of a basketball.

Good idea. Take a few days to think about it. That looks like a good one though.

Do it man. For that price its gonna be tough to find a new one with 15k miles an NO mods for that price.

The Comptech exhaust looks sweet on that car BTW. Its only a matter of time till i fall for that mod.

Offer 23K.

Not having a car payment is NICE. Problem is, when you don't have one you spend the money on STOOPID shit. Trust me, I know.

Agree completely with SpeedyV6 - and I was really tempted by this car before I bought mine a couple of weeks ago (it's been on ebay for a while, FWIW - may be some negotiating room in that) - Price is right, but decided against it for just exactly the reasons he mentioned (Hmm... great minds? )...

FWIW, CAI and exhaust are often installed by the dealer - need to confirm if it was, or if not, by whom and where?

Best deal would be to talk with the original owner(s) - and if more than one.. why?? Reposession?

If you haven't done a carfax search yet, would be a good idea. Can compare that against what the dealer is telling you to at least begin a "truth calibration" on him/her.

Also suggest you confirm warranty status, including the number of months left from when the car originally placed in service. If it was an early model '03, could have lost a bunch of warranty already (more negotiating fodder!)

I apolgize for being a bit of an old lady about this, but you're planning to lay down a pretty good chunk of change, and you want to make sure it's as much a winner as it looks!! If spending the money doesn't bother you, how 'bout making the payments on my CL?

If everything looks good, offer $19000 and see what happens!

Best

Jim

not me, I have been saving $1000 a month for a home. By next Oct. I hope to have 10k-13k in the bank. The note on this plus Ins. would be cuttin that by alteast half.

Not yet man, I just dont if its the right time. But I also feel like I wont find a deal like this again. I will be keeping my 1st gen so I would have two cars to myself. And that doesn't seem logical either.

I will go being looking at it tomorrow morning

I know Im only joking

I think you can get cheaper and that car looks abused. Unfortunately the 6spd will be bought from people who want the best performance they can and drive it accordingly.

I would look for a car without too many mods with low miles and try to get the navi when buying used there isnt any difference in price.

but its your decision if you like it than go for it ...but if you just paid off your car why get into any debt right away. Live a little and the fever will pass...as Im getting older cars dont thrill me anymore like they use to. Think about it a little longer and stop going to ebay
