Car alarms do work

I had to go to a mall yesterday to return something. (8pm) I was in the JCPenny's at the end of the mall. I parked in front. So I go in, go to the counter, & I hear this alarm going off. Sounds like the stock CL alarm. I go to the door & sure enough it's my car. The horn blasting, people looking. I wired in a shock sensor. I guess someone either bumper into the car, hit the car, tried to take the lights, or emblems, or my valve caps. Still don't know. I was in the store for 2 minutes before I heard the alarm. The car had no damage, didn't look like it was messed with. Of corse it's FL, so the old people that were out yelled at me on how loud & anoying the alarm was

who cares about alarms! I had my old car stolen from a mall in fort lauderdale, found by the cops the next day stripped! If someone is really set on stealling your car your 150 dollar alarm isn't going to do shit! Unless you have a kill switch or some sort of ignition cut-off but a lame ass alarm that just makes a lot of noise rarely ever does anything. Especially at malls, alarms go off all the time, and no one really cares!

Kinda on the same note - Today I hit the unlock button on my remote ( OEM remote)....I set off an alarm of the car next to mine....Guess there is a frequency similarity.

2nd time it happened to me

I ordered the Viper GPS system to be Installed into my car recently. Can track it from the web. But if it gets into a container then its worthless

Cars hardly ever get stolen around here, so an audible alarm is sufficent. People around here do look when an alarm is going off and may notice someone messing with your car. Also you can get alarms for $150 that have starter disable

Man, you sound bitter. Sorry about your car. I very well know if someone wants the car they will get it. The factory alarm does have engine disable as well as the chip in the key. When mine goes off people tend to look.

My VW has a reflashed ECU that includes performance programs, included in this is a pin number entered into the cruise control buttons, if they arent enterted correctely the car wont start! Pretty handy right!

All I know is if your at a mall or a sports game or some other place where there are always tons of people with alarms going off constantly, no one pays attention! The worst place was the parking garages at school. Cause every kid and there mothers had dropped cars with low, deep exhausts and systems. So every isle they would drive down would set off 10 car alarms. So by the time they parked, alarms are going off all over the place, its just not even worth it to put a loud annoying alarm on your car, might as well just get lo-jack or something actually worth it. But thats just my view, cause everyone knows that if someone wants your car, and its not some kid playing around, your car is as good as gone, no questions asked!

yeah, i dont even have an exhaust and i set off numerous car alarms just driving down the street. lots more if in a parking garage, etc.

gotta love my intake
ported throttle body
ported intake manifold

when flooring it... its louder than my friends 300zx with straight pipes. throatier too

my car alarm worked though... my car was broken into but nothing was stolen. i found it with a shattered window at 5am. but my new cd player, portable mp3 player, and other things were not taken... and i still have my car.
