it's a very high quality polished, good looking forged wheel, and the company backs their products better than any wheel maker i've seen. good wheel for a mercedes. im just glad lou didnt get the same thing i had ordered ... i knew he was itching to out-do me so i figured it'd be this or fikse or something. lol.

thanks guys for the compliments

I drove out to Maryland to take a look at the HRE wheels this guy was selling. I told him straight up that Im a picky buyer and wanted the wheels perfect or I wasnt buying. I was shocked at the excellent condition they're in.

the wheels are polished aluminum so they can be polished to your hearts content but its a pain in the ass to get the brake dust off. I been using Mothers mag and aluminum polish and its great.

absolutely love the wheels and they're so light I cant believe it for a 18"

specs are 18x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 or 10 inch he doesnt know he told HRE to make them wide but not to rub.

Wow! Nice wheels. Glad you decided to go with the HRE's. I'm looking into wheels, but I can't justify spending that kind of money for NYC roads. Hopefully I can find a 'used' set like yours for a decent price. I'm not driving the C32 in the winter so I have until spring to find something. Post some pics when they're on.
By the way, did you ever find any info on the Alpine adaptor. My navi system is just collecting dust.

Lou, a friend of mine used to have polished aluminum wheels on his truck. The best thing we found to polish them was Wenol. by far the best polish out .. and we used it with one of those polishing drill bit balls that you put in a drill. Wheels would come up amazing when we did this .. resembled chrome

Lou, Wenol is definetly worth the money, but is kinda rare. You don't often find it in a store .. some places carry it. Best to order it online I think. There are two diff kinds, the blue and the red. I think you can use the blue for the first polishing, then the red maintains it? but dont quote me. The dremel should be fine. We just used a 40$ regular Craftsman drill. The polishing ball was 19.99 from some car site, dont remember which one.

No problem. I've actually searched the MB boards but couldn't find anything. It seems like nobody knows about this adapter or maybe it doesn't exist?
How's your system running? I'd hate to lose the audio controls on the wheel. I'm a little lazy.

I posted on mbworld.org and got this: http://www.alpinef.com/steerphpBB/vi...45805426717e7b

Wonder if anyone in the US stocks that part or can even get it? Seems like a lot of work. It says the ignition needs to be pulled on the C and the instrument panel needs to be removed on the CLK.
