I'm going 65 in a 55mph zone and I have this dumb little girl in this 2000 something eclipse riding my butt. I'm like wtf? 10 miles over the speed limit isn't fast enough for you? She decides to try to pass me. I lay down hard on the gas pedal. I normally wouldn't race anyone but I figured she was asking for it just riding my bumper for a good while. I start pulling by a car and then about when I hit 90 she pulls in front and I had to slam on brakes because I couldn't get over. The CL felt like it wanted to pull some more and I think it would have easily pulled away. What do you guys think?

mine was H/I 01 CL type S auto their some automatic eclipse I didn't hear any bovs or intakes so I assumed it was stock.

 

your type s couldnt destroy an eclipse, something is definatly wrong w/ your car

 

I figured that it kept up pretty well though. I think the only reason why I pulled a car ahead was because they didn't stomp on it until later than me. It kept up I can't say it was a clear winner.

 

Were you using the SS or full auto mode? The full auto mode would have upshifted too early, putting you a bad place in the engine's powerband. At 65, you should have been in the doggy part of 3rd gear. At 90 you should have been pulling like a bat out of hell up until about 105mph, where you'd need to grab 4th gear.

 

what he said but I can go to ~110 before shifting to 4th.

 

i had something similar happen to me against a lancer recently (modded,non-evotinker toy huge wing,exhaust,intake). when we hit at like 40-50 it felt like no downshift (3.0 autotragic tranny)or the v-tec didn't kick in. it felt like i was in 5th in a 5-speed doing about 50 floored!!!i went nowhere and he pulled a little!!!! thought he was the man till we caught a light. i was behind him, came around him, and shot a good 1-2 cars in front. dont like to admit it but he had me the first time though and there is no way a 3.0 should ever lose to a lancer non evo.

 

Yeah something has got to be wrong with your car. I own a 2001 Acura CL-P and I'm dusting those 2000 Eclipse left and right with my car modded with only AEM V2 Intake, Headers, and custom exhaust. With my exhaust mufflers back to OEM I'm still beating them.
