Cool 3.0 vs. truck.. is this normal?

it was a chevy 1500, a newer model, i think 02-04. i was in the left lane, and it was gonna end. the light turned green and i took off sorta fast, but when he got ahead, i floored it. he hit it at the same time. at the end of first gear i was even, and worried. i put it in D3. i pulled 1/2 a car at the end of second (about 64mph). the lane was almost completely ended, and when i hit third gear, i couldnt pull anymore, and at about 80mph i had to slam on the brakes, and let him get in front. in my opinion, i won the race, as i was ahead. this dickhead should have let me over, as he was behind instead of making me rish an accident. i honked once and flicked him off. and he slowed way down and started revving his engine. i pulled out to the left, and blew past him. when i was right next to him, he floored it (i heard his engine) but i was already gone. he was getting farther behind, but stopped falling back at about 70, but at 90, i was completely gone. is third gear a slouch in this car? should i be happy i won? because i was too pissed off that ot was that close, and he wouldnt let me over. anyways, its stock right now, because the headers an muffler were too loud. (pulled over three times, and 1 ticket)

Mine doesn't My 03 ZR2 shuts down at 128 mph but I never had it that fast. Way to scary at 105 mph. I reprogrammed the engine it used to shut off at 96 mph. I had a few guy astonished when I blew buy them going over 100 mph in a Blazer. But then its not stock it will run neck and neck with a stock 3.2 cl auto.

You want to read up on a fast truck go to this web address. It is a Car and Driver road test of the 1991 GMC Syclone vs. a Ferrari 348ts. Guess who wins? http://www.csun.edu/~dkogan/syclone/...neRoadTest.htm

Yeah the lighting is faster than the Syclone on dry pavement. On wet pavement the Syclone will eat it for lunch. Plus the Syclone is early 90's V-6 vs. modern V-8.

Sorry, 1991 turbocharged V-6 vs. 2005 supercharged V-8. Both are sweet engines.

The syclone/typhoon motor is basically just a bored out Grand National engine. IMO the only good motor to come out of the 80's.

Diesel's are the ones to be scared of. They'll haul shit around all day, pull trailers or whatever you do with them and then put down a low 14 second pass at the strip.

Computer chips work wonders on diesels.

The 4.3 in the Syclone/Typhoon has no ties to the GN' 3.8 other than they are V-6's and may use the same turbo. The 4.3 is a 350 V-8 minus 2 cylinders. The 3.8 was designed as a V-6. I do agree that diesel's are tough. I saw a guy whose Duramax was chipped to the point it destroyed the Allison tranny. Thats torque!
