Lets say you wanted to get a quote on the new BMW m5 thats not out yet, can the insurance company give you pricing?

I wouldn't think so...
When I considered getting an '03 330Ci just as the came out, I called my insurance company and they had to quote me on the '02 as they didn't have the data on the '03.
So I'll assume this would basically be the same thing. They'd probably have the current info, but nothing on future models.

Thought so, theres some kid on a bmw forum talking about how hes getting a 645ci over the m3 just because the 645ci is cheaper to insure.
How the fawk can a M3 cost more to insure than a $70k 645ci :o

Crazy,
If the M3 were considered to be more of a liability because of acceleration and speed the car is capable of, which is likely higher than the 645ci, the premiums on the M3 would defly be higher. I would assume that the Insurance companies see it that you are more likely to drive recklessly in a M3 than in a 645ci. The M is a $55000 car new and the 645ci is a $75000 car. I am sure you could more than make up for the difference in price by killing more people and doing more damage driving like an ass in the M3 than in the 645ci costing the insurance company way more than the $20000 difference in the price of the cars. You are probably more likely to drive like an ass in the M3. Thus, the premium is probably higher. As a matter of fact I would assume the M3 is higher. You must consider that the performance of the M3 is up there with some of the best high performance vehicles while the 645ci is probably not.
IMHO,

sorry, I know this was off topic. i wrote it then realized it.

Actually, it is possible to get a quote for insurance even if the car isn't out. as long as you know how much the car costs and what type of safety equipments come with the vehicle, it is possible. Keep in mind that it will only be an estimated quote .....
