can you use 10w30???
I got an oil change at an Acura dealer which I won't disclose at this time but they used Mobil1 synthetic 10W30. According to the manual it states to use 5W20 year round and if need be use 5W30 but in the next oil change use 5W20. I have been using 5W30 since after the break in period but never used 10W30. Won't this cause knocks and pings and cause performance downgrade and possibly cause my oil seals to leak not to mention change of compression. If Im wrong than sorry and I take back everything I wrote.
The specs on the oil is just the operating temperature ranges. Look at the manual, there's a section mentioning oil grades.
As long as it's certified engine oil (which it probalby is), it won't cause your seals to leak or anything. And pings/knocking is caused by using gasoline with too low an octane, not much related to oil.

Generally you should use the thinnest oil for your temperature range. This is so it flows quickly at startup thus reducing the wear that occurs. Being in New York this time of year, as long as it is not below freezing when you start it, 10w should be OK but 5w would be preferable. 10w would be a better summer oil buth then again, they say it is bad to switch weights as it causes sludge. With Mobil 1, you are using the best IMO. Stick to that weight and brand and you will not likely have oil related failure.
