Can anybody help with this?...

Maybe Chod? I've done numerous searches and haven't come up with the right thread. What I need to know is how to get the rear shelf out so that the window can be tinted completely (cover up the non-functioning third brake light). I had my windows tinted yesterday, & I told the guy that was the way I wanted it done. When I picked up the car it was not tinted around the light housing... he said that it was too much work to get it out and it would cost mucho deniro $$$. Whatever. I told him that I am taking it out myself & will bring it back for him to do right, at his cost. Asshole.
Anyway, any help quickly will be appreciated! I can't stand the way it looks right now.

My tint installer did this too because I didn’t know any better to ask otherwise.
When they do my 2003, I’m going to make sure it’s done right.

You need to remove the entire back seat to get that rear shelf out.
There are bolts that you can’t get at when the BACK of the seat is in place.

The lower cushions come out first, then the center console, then the back, then the shelf.

In some states its illegal to tint over the brake light, so thats why the guy might of been such a @$$hole. Just letting you know. If you do take out the back seat take some picts of the procedure for faqs.

I think it is illegal in all states, the catch is that it is OK if you have the additional brake light in the rear spoiler (in which case the one in the rear window should be disconnected).

And that's exactly my case...if I didn't have the spoiler with the 3rd, it wouldn't matter.

well first of all, if there is something i can't do to my car (like tinting) i only bring it to somebody I trust. ANYWAYS ...

You can get the backseat out for the guy, takes 5 minutes tops. Seat coushins come up right away, just grab underneath the front and rip them off. then take the bolts off near the center box, and that will slide out. Then two more bolts towards the side of the car (almost underneath the rear part of the seat). that's it's. lift up on the rear coushin slowly, and it comes out. should take 5 mins ...
