Calling Tech folks... Is there Resolution to the Idle problem in CL

I am going to make another appointment at the dealer (along with other things) for this. It is starting to annoy me. This is the RPM's dipping really low when coming to almost a stop, but doesn't happen all the time. Car has not stalled yet, but sometimes feels like it will. The last time it was in I had them check this, but "cannot reproduce problem, but it is documented."

Is there a fix for this, or what the hell is it that causes it ? So I may be able to guide them to finding a fix. A feeling of a "almost stalling car" is not comforting.
I would Assume there is some kind of Idle control something or other that can be checked ?
Any Help is appreciated.

Mine just did it again tonight for the first time in weeks. I swear it has something to do with winter gas and cold temps. because I'm almost POSITIVE I NEVER felt this in summer.

Thought about that also, mine didn't do this during the summer.

Ok I can understand the winter gas part, but this is Louisiana, we don't get as cold here as say, Chicago:P

Throw in some Chevron Techron or similar fuel injection cleaner. My CLS engines always ran like a top, but I added a fuel injection cleaner every 5k miles or so.

01 cls
03 cls 6 speed
icebox

I use Chevron w/ Techron 91 or 93 Octane every time, forgot which it is, premium essentially. I also use STP fuel system cleaner every 3-4k miles.

it has to do w/ the fuel pressure regulator or something like that. it's a TSB. i had mine fixed a couple years ago.

If a TSB I wonder why they didn't fix/replace this part when I complained of it before ?

It could be a number of things but is probably IAC valve related.

The temps are climbing to high 40s\low 50s in my area FINALLY .. we'll see if it still has the idle problem. if it does, then I'll worry .. and off to park ave it goes.

I have this problem when coming to abrupt stops. A gradual slow to stop won't make it happen. Quick 15 to 0 in 1 second will make mine dip down under 333 rpms in this cold weather.

I had almost the exact same prob except mine would actually stall and my CEL was comming on, the dealer finally (after 8 months of complaining) was able to figure out that it was a valve problem, they werent seating right so they just sent my heads off to the machine shop to be looked at/tested or what not and theyre looking into the exact problem with the valves

Idle Air Control valve. It is how the engine controls the idle when the throttle is closed.

yeah i have this idling problem too. its very annoying. seems to only happen in the mornings when i first start up the car and drive to work. i live in soCal so the weather is always nice. I use shell 91, but I still get the idling problem.

its kind of embarassing when other ppl are in my car and it starts to shiver/idle rough when i am stopped. the cl is a nice car, i have a 2k1 type S. even my 89 accord didnt shiver like this cl does.

i'm at about 55k miles...do you think the dealer will fix it under warranty?

I have the problem and at first thought it was severe cold. Then it got to the 20s+ for a while and it didn't happen for weeks. Well its been 30-45 lately and started happening again.

I can't believe all these complaints and no one has a resolution. Scalbert has a hypothosis, but no one states they have had this fixed.
