Last weeks discussion... No bad complaints from anyone on the product so far, plus you can brush it on.

I know that brakes can get pretty hot, but how hot do calipers really get ??
I like the fact that you can brush the stuff on (no worries about overspay), but there has got to be a cheaper solution.
Too bad that barbeque paint only comes in black. There must have been someone that has tried some cheap hi-temp brush on paint that is less expensive.

Shit for $42 i can get GALLONS of the babeque paint I'd rather re-paint after every winter than pay that much for paint. Black is good enough for me.

First guys, and I know you do not want to hear this, but the right way to do this and never worry about touch up again is to have them powder coated. This requires you to go to a powder coating job shop. My guess is that they will nail you about $200 for all four calipers. Porsche and corvette amoung others powder coat their calipers.
Second, barbaque grill paint is available in about 16 colors from H. B. Fuller Company in Minneapoils, MN. Guess what? They make powder coatings. Any Weber Genesis grill, black or otherwise, you be a lookin at powder coating.
Third, I do not know what quantity of paint these guys provide, but I paint for a living in liquid and powder paint. I have seen liquid paint that costs $1,500 for a PINT! It depends what you are going after. Special effects, high gloss, low orange peel, salt spray resistance, chip resistance, if you want it all, it will cost you.
Finally, to show you why I am so much behind powder coatings (been doing it 15 years now), visit www.goodrichtechnology.com
Click on "Permastar" and look at the pictures. Check out the "black pearl finish." I will be mounting these on my 03CLS6 on Friday morning when UPS drops them off. I would have powder coated these myself (piece of cake), but I am not equipped to do the chrome deposition process, which requires vaporization of the metal. I can't do that.
Note: notice that after the metalization process is completed, all smooth and machined areas of the wheel are completely finished. With regular copper/nickle/chrome, only the face is polished. If you are interested in doing this, pm me. There are details you have to address, and in metal finishing, "the devil is in the details." Pics will be posted. This will be on a satin silver CLS, so it should be a good effect!

I've got a 30 thousand dollar car in the driveway, and I'm complaining about 42 bucks
A friend of mine calls me "frugal", and I always have to correct him. "I'm a cheap bastard"
But... if barbeque paint comes in 16 colors, I'll bet that red is one of 'em. Just hope it matchs SM red.
