CAI Recommendations for a 2002 CL Type-S

I'm interested in modifying my 2002 CL Type-S and was wondering if anyone had any any suggestions or recommendations on CAI.

Thanks for the information & nice pic's!

What kind of improvements or gains have you noticed? What did it set you back? Did you install yourself? Sorry for the flood of questions....

It's about 8-10whp. It's noticable... And the sound is kickass!

What did it set you back?
I can't remember exactly, but I bought it from autocarparts.com.

Yep... father/son project. Took about 1 hour or so. It's pretty easy to do, especially if you have a turny-clicky thing with some extensions.

Ive never had a single problem...You could sit here forever and listen to all the little problems an individual may have--But all-in-all, they are both pretty equal...I paid around 215

To be perfectly honest...

I'm really not into modding my car. The CAI was my first car mod ever. Tires and tint, no big deal...

I guess I'd rather spend my money on other things, that's all.

And the lowered look just doesn't do it for it. It looks nice, but I like the look of the stock setup.

Maybe I need my head examined???

My problem with the ice box is you might as well leave the stock one in, and toss in a K&N. The big benefit of the CAI is to leave 0 restriction, and smooth flow of air into the throttle body. From my understanding the ice box is nothing more than an OEM type air box, without the resonator. You could just fill the OEM fill mono-foam and get the same result.

If you check out the Comptech site for the Accord, they don't bother putting any dyno graphs for the Ice Box. I'm pretty sure why... :P

Usually it's cheaper to order both the CAI and the bypass valve at the same time, unless you can find someone on this board selling theres for cheaper.

Easy answer: AEM CAI or Injen CAI
Complete answer: Do a Search with "CAI" and make your own informed decision.

Not completely true. My friend has an IS300 with the same type of upgrade. It looks like the stock box, but the intake pipe is curved and smoothed out. Also, one of the biggest power robbing feature of the stock airbox is the accordian like rubber pipe that goes from the throttle body to the intake box. Both the Comptech icebox and the IS300 upgrade kit gets rid of that accordian pipe.

Dude if you get the bypass valve....mind as well not get the intake at all...you will lose power. As for the CT IB...I've seen the version for the integra...it is nice well built and smooth piping.

Does any manufacturer make a CAI for the 6 Speed that would not require me to modify it to make it fit as you currently have to do with the AEM....any answers would be appreciated.

do you plan on going into water that reaches the top of your bumper? then don't plan on getting the bypass valve. driving in heavy downpours, continuous rain doesn't count. i've down that many times.

Well supposedly the gains should be as much as a CAI and not as loud. We're still waiting for a dyno...don't think it's out yet. Deansbluesi is selling it for $240 shipped. It looks like stock, but it performs better.
