Reviving this old thread as I have the same question and that link no longer works.

I'm looking for any recommended shops within 25 miles of Fremont, CA. I need to do my 105k mile service - the dealership (Hopkins Acura, Redwood City) quoted 1600+tax & 2 day TSX loaner.

Thanks Guys

I ended up taking my car to Acura Honda Connection in San Jose. They had 16 5-star reviews on yelp so I figure it's a good place. I took my car there this morning, the vibes were good with Joey & Jonas the owners. The only cars there were hondas or acuras. The service will take until tomorrow but i've got a 98 accord loaner. Great so far. I will update this thread tomorrow after picking the car up.

105k service invoice breakdown

My understanding was that the water pump was a very expensive part so i'm thinking that part of that cost is seen in the labor price...

Parts:

(1) Timing belt 45.00
(1) Water pump 129.00
(2) External belts 36.00
(1) Coolant 12.00
(6) Platinum plugs (OEM NGK) 108.00
(1) Oil filter 7.00
(1) Oil drain washer 1.00
(1) Engine mount, right 74.00
(3.5[qt?]) Trans fluid (had it drained & refilled) 22.75
(1) Trans drain washer 1.00
(1) Hydraulic T-belt tensioner 96.00

Total parts: 531.75

Labor:

Timing belt package 488.00
Replace spark plugs 73.00
Oil change (Brought my own RP 5W-30) 15.00
Drain & fill trans fluid 49.00
Replace hydraulic T-tensioner N/C
Replace right engine mount N/C

Total labor: 625.00

EPA Waste Disposal (trans fluid?) 6.00

Tax: 43.87

Grand Total: 1206.62

I had the right engine mount & hydraulic t-tensioner replaced per the shops recommendation. He showed me the broken engine mount & leaking hydraulics afterwards. I was not charged install labor on those. There were a few things that didn't need to be done such as changing intake air-filter & cabin filter.

So $794 for timing belt/tensioner/water pump/accessory belts change. Thanks, Kik! How was the whole experience? Did they use OEM Honda/Acura parts?

Great overall experience. Nice to see the same guys who've owned the place for twenty years were working on the cars. I've got only good things to say.

Tensioner was not a standard 105k replacement part; mine was leaking oil and therefore losing pressure.

They said they used OEM replacement parts and I'm pretty sure that's the same as "Genuine Acura/Honda parts".

Ya, that's interesting and encouraging to hear about the owners getting dirty on the important jobs.

I've heard about and seen so many tensioner failures (not specifically on Hondas/Acuras) that I would consider it more important to replace the tensioner than the wp during a tb change. If I did the job myself, I might gamble on the wp lasting another 100k longer. (The one replaced on my old 90 Legend at 100k looked and felt great.) If it doesn't, then I guess I know how to change it (and I value my own labor at $10/hour)...
