The original message was regarding SS vs. Auto mode. I thought that the message was getting a bit off track. People were asking me questions (e.g. wheels on the M3) and I thought that it's better if I start another thread. Also, this is more of a "Car Talk" and not of a "Race Story" thread.

Derekh: Thank you for your comments on the wheels. I personally prefer the carbon black over Le Mans Blue, but it's just a personal preference.
Scrib, Quick Silver, : Thank you for your comments!
BigPimp: Yes, the vehicle is used as a commuter. However, I am considering tracking the car. SMG has been known to have better track times, and manual 6's has been know for 1/4 mile drag races. It's just a choice made depending on what you want to use the car for. Being stuck in traffic w/ the SMGII is much better than a 6 speed though!
Chikai: Thank you for the advise!
Jucee187: MY 01 CL-S had 50505 miles on it and I got around $15K for dealer trade-in. The M3 costed a total of $63K (tax+delivery+guzzler+etc etc all included.). Put down another 15K and financed 33K over 60 months. New springs, exhaust, and minor mods to come later!
AC: SMGII is an option so are the 19"s.
Casper98CL: Seriously? I personally think my CL was a little .... womanly? Just not as much of a grunt as the M3. Just IMHO, please no flames!

Cogratulations on the sweet new ride! I also think the color choice is excellent. Like others have said, take it easy in the beginning. You'll be able to have a lot of fun with it once you've broken it in properly.
Sweet car.. the only things is that why would u even want to do anything to it at all (mods).. because from what I understand.. the M3 is already configured for optimal performance and handling/comfort.. especially on car that is almost 70K.. IMO
But still, it's a f*ing sweet ride. I would love to be able to afford one someday.

Nice car though! I put way too many miles on a car to make that my daily driver. I'd have major depreciation on a 63K car.
I started with the following mods in mind:
- Tinting of rear windows.
- Exhaust.
- Springs.
However, so far this is what I've got.
- Factory CD-Changer. ROFL!
- Motion sensor for security.
I am not tinting the windows ... due to the increased "gansta" look. The stock exhaust is growing on me, so I am probably going to skip this mod. The stock suspension and 19" wheels gives a very very firm ride and I can't see the point of getting new springs.
So, in conclusion, no mods planned for the future as of right now. However, later on when the new 500HP Supra, G35 GTR, Lancer EVO VII, and Subaru WRX STI shows up ... then that's another story all together.

Very hot...
Thanks for the details on your trade-in/payments too... now you have me working the numbers. If I wasn't having a house built it could be a possibility!!
Good luck with her

That is one hot car.
so I'm curious, what does the gear shift on the center console do besides Fwd, Park and Reverse? Does it work as a gear shifter in addtion to the steering wheel paddles... like an IS300? If anyone can explain the gate setup on the shifter i'd love to know how that works.

The shifting pattern is basicly the following.
R -
| |
--- 0 --- S ---> A
|
+
In the pictures, you see that I have the shifter in "R", thus the car is in gear while parked, preventing it from rolling.
To start the car, press the gas peddle and move shifter to "0", nutral, and turn the key.
Then, move shifter to the right 1 notch to "S" position, you'll be in sequential manual mode. In this mode, either push the stick in direction "-" or "+" or use peddles on the steering wheels to up and down shift.
If you tap the shifter to the right once, the shifter will return to the "S" position. Now you are in auto mode where the car drives like an auto (not really, but.).
Hope this helps!

I wonder why BMW always likes to put the reverse gear forward in the gate?
Same reason they use a fractional representation of 1 (1/1) for a full gas tank I guess..."because they can".
Imagine me going from an CL-S to a M3, where the shifter is exactly reversed?
Everytime I change gears in the M3, I constantly have to remind myself that it's reversed!!! Oye Vye!

PS. Just noticed that my picture above didn't show up as well as I thought it was going to. Basicly, the + and - are located vertically to the "S" position.

Hey you bought that at Otto's! I live right down the street from it. I bought my CLS at West Chester Acura, across the street from it. I bought a z3 from Otto's in 96 (yeah i know, bitch car blah blah)but they treated me great. Where in Jersey do you live?
Acura3.0CLP and Zeroday: Just noticed that my signature still says NJ! I recently moved from Morrestown, NJ to Lancaster, PA because of a new Job. I've just changed my user profile to reflect this. My apologizes! As for the dealership crest, I sort've think that it looks pretty cool! As for the Z3, I think that every car has qualities that makes it special, so I congrats on your previous ownership of the Z3 and the current CL-S!
Darrinb: Right next to the SMGII shifter is a rocker switch that allows you to choose the SMGII programs.
Chaptorial, GOT PSI?, Chief F1 Fan and Crazy Sellout: Thank you for your comments!
joedokes28 and Casper98CL: No doubt that the Acura CL-S is one of the most desirable cars out there! If cars are rated by performance per $$$, the CL-S would definitely be ahead of the M3 by miles!!!
