Buying a CL-S

Greetings,

I'm about to buy my third CL, this one a Type S. It's bone stock w/ nav, 93k, tranny replaced at 63k.

I'm assuming my first orders of business should be to upgrade the nav DVD. Can anyone else give me some tips on what I should be doing to make this car a more enjoyable experience? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Also, is there a way to swap out the fake wood grain? The interior on the one I'm picking up is black, so it's the black burlwood - pretty ugly IMO.

Grats on the cl purchase. What happened to the first 2 cl's? First thing i would do is shocks/springs or coilovers. As for the wood trim, in my 03 cl i have plastic with a brushed aluminum look. I like this alot more than wood. You can buy them from acuraautomotiveparts.org or hondapartsunlimited.com
If you are looking for performance mods intake and headers are always good to get first.

I would love a 6 speed, but finding one is next to impossible. I've seen one for sale with a 6 speed in the last six months here in Washington State. I've got to kind of take what I can get!

As for my last two CL's, I just kind of outgrew both of them at the type. The first was a first gen 3.0. Not a bad car, but it was getting up there in miles. The second was a 3.2 non type S. I liked it, but it just wasn't 'sporty' enough, if that makes sense.

I lowered my first CL and had rear strut clunk on every bump in the road. I put those rubber dampeners on the coils of the struts, and the clunk was still there. Did the rear strut design on the 2nd gen's fix this??

Huh? I bought mine with 68k miles, Navi and SSM (6 speed) 3 months ago. I also just looked on Autotrader and see a San Marino Red 6 speed at Acura of Lynnwood with 88K miles for $11,950 which I'm sure you can talk down because I paid $10,500 for mine with less miles and Navi. Not to mention mine was a lease at birth and same people bought and kept it until they traded it and I bought it.
They've had that car sitting on the lot for 34 days...

Stlswagger,

Good find. I do the majority of my car searching on Craigslist, and this one didn't come up.

I'm good with the auto right now, especially with the deal I'm getting.

you don't by chance want to sell your stock wheels do you??

My stock wheels are in freaking great shape and maybe a 1 inch spot of curb rash on one rim. Considering the dealer put some sticky all season's on it and they've gotten me to Steven's Pass a couple of times for boarding, I can't part with them. I thought about it when I first bought the car but splitting time between two sets of rims gives me extended life on both sets not to mention something for the snow and something for show.

I'm planning on taking mine occasionally up to the pass as well. Did your snowboard fit through the rear seat pass through without issue?

Maybe my wife's board would fit since she has a Arbor and she's only 5'4 lol. Me on the other hand, ride a Burton Floater. I have a custom speaker wall holding 2 12's in the trunk so I have no access to the pass-through. It was a great concept when my buddy built it for me but now that I have it in there, I don't want it anymore but it was free minus supplies. I also have no access to my navi disk since this speaker wall blocks that too. Looks nice though lol.
But unless you have a think board which I doubt, you stand no chance of squeezing a guy's snowboard through that hole. Ski's yes but not a snowboard. I have a friend that we ride with and they have a pickup so we pile all our gear in his truck. I was looking at getting a roof rack but they kind of look awkward on top of the CL. I saw a website that allows you to basically put two snowboards on the door window with a mount but need to research that option more in terms of has it broken windows etc.

Interesting on the window mount snowboard racks. I'm not too big on the roof rack either, but if it has to be done, which it sounds like it does, then I'm going to have to bite the bullet on that one. Thanks for the reply!
