Busy Weekend

So this weekend im going to be doing some "minor" maintanence on the CL:

Spark Plugs - NGK Laser Platimun #7790 PZFR6E11 - $44
Water Pump - Gates - $45
Timing Belt w/ Idler Pulley, Tensioner - Gates - $45
O2 Sensors (before and after cat) - Bosch - $43 x 2 - $86
Cabin Air Filter - same ones Noah picked up lol - $15
Antifreeze - Acura Long Life Type 2 50/50 - $16 x 2 - $32
Crank Pulley Removal Tool - Courtesy of NAPA Auto - Free

Not Pictured:
Automatic Transmission Fluid - Genuine Honda ATF $8 x 4 - $32
Oil - Castrol Syntec 5w20 (couldn't spring for AMSOIL this time) - $25
Oil Filter - NAPA/WIX - $4
Seafoam - $4

Prices (most of them) courtesy of emloyee discount lol

Now i know what you guys are thinking: "use genuine honda water pump, timing belt, blah blah blah" but dont have the extra $$$ right now. And besides water pump and timing have lifetime warranties.

Everything is pretty simple except for timing belt and water pump which is rated at 4.5-6 hours depending on skill level. Hopefully nothing goes wrong and it'll running like a champ by Monday

Seafoam is something I have been wanting to do.

Good luck Beast..

Timing Belt would worry me if I had never done it before.

Yea i was kinda on the edge about it but im going for it. I've changed timing belt before on an older Toyota, Nissan Sentra, and recently replaced the head gaskets on a '96 accord and replaced the belt on that as well.

Good pick up on those cabin filters, im gonna buy those the next time i need filters. Its just a few bucks more compared to autozone regular bosch filters and charcoal are better.

but you could have save a few bucks and gotten honda coolant instead of acura coolant, i think they're identical. And how come you didnt get the lazer iridium plugs? Those were the ones used in the 02-03s from the factory. Only the 01s came with the lazer platniums.

Well the operation went percfectly and the car is up and running. You can definatelly feel a difference (not from the tbelt), now im not saying its faster but the car just feels smoother.

Overall i would say that the difficulty level is a 5 out of 10. Its very time consuming but very straight forward. Im glad i did it myself instead of taking it to the stealership.

Nice job...

Do you think it is from the Seafoam that the CL is performing smoother?

If the price is the same, i would have gone with the iridiums. NGK site says the iridiums came with the 03s, but doesnt specify the tranny.

Yea thats probably the thing that made the most difference. Then you factor in new plugs, and you got one smooth ride

If you mean 1 being easy 10 being a pain in the a$$.........I would give it a 4 as long as you have all the necessary tools. I used two 25" breaker bars
and a really long extension in addition to the pulley tool.
