Bubble in Tire Question
I had two. One in my 98 RL and one in my CL Not covered by Acura, so when you take it to get it replaced, ask them to show it to you.
If the tire is damaged on the inside, it is not covered by Michelin and means the rim stabbed into the tire as a result of hitting a pothole or a curb. If there is NO damage noticeable inside the tire, then it is a tire defect and covered by Michelin.
That's how it was explained to me by Acura and Bell Tire.

Bubble in the tire club
I beleive that the bubble in the tire club is very close to the scratched rim club in number. Something about these michelines beg for the bubbles. There is nothing you can do about it except buy new tires. I too have a bubble and when I buy my next new car I am going to look into buying a road hazard warranty form someone before I drive it off of the lot. I don't know if this is possible, but I will definately look into it.
I believe that tire shops (Les Schwab) will sell a warranty for the tires.
Not worth it in my opinion. Why pay for the warranty? Save the cash and if you do have problems, then use that money to buy a new tire.

The Michelin dealer gave me a deal on the new Yokohama 420's, which is similar to the Michelins. The tires normally costs $100.00 but the MIchelin dealer adjusted the price to $35.00. The only problem is I have mismatched tires. As soon as I find employment, they will match again.

I've had to have all 4 of my tires replaced in the span of 45,000 miles. 1 had a bubble, 2 blowouts, and 1 with dangerous tread ware. The tread ware is supposed to be 40,000 miles, so I guess I did all right. These goddamn things are way to fuckin' expensive, $200 each. I think it's a design flaw on the part of Acura - aren't there better tires you can get for cheaper? I'd be satisfied if our stock tires where the absolute best you could get for the price - but with all the problems I've had, I have a hard time believing that.
The tire place said that there was a type of Eagles (or something) that would fit, and they were about $40 less, I'll have to look into that for the next time. He said they would be more performance oriented.

The only bad thing about replacement tires is the length of time they will last. I tend to drive a lot thus, I usually replace tires often. The downside of the 17" tires is that most are high speed rated and thus do not last very long. The good side is that they feel better and give better performance. I am about to get a set of Kuhmo 235/45/17. They only cost $100 a peice which is the best price I could find. If you paid $200 for each of yours, I am sure that 2 sets of Kuhmo's should last as long as one set of the michelines and you will get a better ride in the process.
This exact question has been asked so many times already, that it's probably worth a spot in the FAQ. The problem isn't covered under any warranty, and the tire should be replaced immediately because of the greater probability of a blowout.
this is common with low profile tires, i've seen it alot, esp on pirelli p7000 supersports - it usually happens from a point of impact, pothole usually - the steel cord splits causing air pressure from within to push out on a secondary layer of rubber behind the outer skin - very dangerous - get a new tire imediately
