Bubble in the sidewall

I have had my car of a little over a year and last weekend I noticed a bubble in the sidewall of my stock tire. They have 20k on them and I was planning on getting rims and tires in March of next yr and using the stock for the winters. I hate the stock tires and now I have to buy one to replace the damaged one. Anyone know where I can get the stock tire cheap? Or even one used with around 20k on it, so its more balanced. Thanks for the help.

By the way LOVE the new CAI ! ! !

I've had the same problem before, and apparently it's a common problem w/ a lot of people. Try posting in the black market section w/ subject "WTB: one OEM Michelin tire"

I had 2 tires bubble on me...
Ever since I got my pilot sports, I never had a problem with bubbling or flats bc of sidewall problems.

Possible... but with 20K miles, it might be better to start thinking about some "different" tires.

They just seem to get harder and I've always gotten "road hazzard" problems with tires with near worn tread conditions.

IMO, if the tires aren't good enough for winter or (wet weather), they should be tossed (good == deep channels)

I hear you, only thing is that I wanted to get new rims and tires next year in March and stick with these til then. Then maybe throw some decent tires that would hold up in the winter on to the stock rims and put them back on in the winters.

For those of you that used the stock tires til the end, how many miles did they go for?

Thanks

Be careful, Amir....especially with the front tires. There is a distinct possibility that one or both could blow in a tight corner or when some other sort of stress is placed on them. ....and that villian in Collateral Damage is much more Zapata than you!!!

Check out the new Sumitomo HTR+ tires on Tire Rack. They are reasonably priced and are very good 4 season tires. All Weather Tire in Huntington LI have very good prices for tires. They might have them in stock. Good luck.

Is it safe to drive with a bubble in a tire? Will the life of the tire significantly decrease?

I wouldn't drive with a bubble.

But, that's just me...

YMMV

I am driving with a bubble in my tire, and a nail in another one. It was discovered in June and I have been down to Atlanta and back last week, so it's up to you if you want to do it. I am also waiting to replace my stocks with some 18"s within the next 2 weeks, so I am waiting it out before buying more tires.

personally, I'd replace any bubbled tire immediately. I'm just kinda shocked over the Michelin's being so crappy. Since the North American headquarters is down I-85 (Greenville, SC) and I have NEVER had any personal experience with a bad Michelin. They're the best in the trucking industry by a landslide. A good friend is one of the fleet "super" account managers ( large accounts - UPS, etc.). Sorry to hear about the problems.
