Brushed Aluminum to cover bowling ball

A while back someone posted that they found a kit that covered the bowling ball interior trim with brushed aluminum. He said that is was like big stickers. Does anyone have any info one this, or know of a place to look. I did a search under aluminum and bowling ball and could not find what I was looking for. I saw am '03 in person and really liked the look, but the dealer said that you would have to replace the whole door panels.

Thanks,

Austin519 - Yes, I did see that. But that is for doorsills not interior trim

4pumpedCL - I found that website last night. I found a few
OEM replacements kits, but no cover-up or replacement Brushed Aluminum kit

langjae - That looks like a lot of work. Doing stuff like that will just cause more rattles

Thanks for the responses. This is still not what I am looking for. Anyone else. Please let me know.

Has anyone tried to just remove the trim pieces? I know the dealer said that you had to replace the whole thing, but they don't always tell the truth.

Thanks,
juice

If you contact www.exoticwooddash.com they will wrap anything you send them in either wood, brushed aluminum looks, or carbon fiber look.

Not true. We're doing interior trim AND door sills. And it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper, and it's real aluminum.

I could kill you (I wish there was a noogie smilie...I'd be giving you one). Way way back I was going to do the same thing I did for TLers...the trim and sills and shift plate. But you told me you guys already had someone doing it for around the same price ($200) so I said ok and didn't bother. I found out like last week from NOVAWhite that that wasn't the case...because it fell through or otherwise. So I've already started a poll to see interest and last time I checked 60 people were interested in both the trim and the shift plate...so the manufacturer and I hope to turn those out in 2 weeks or less. Grrrrrr

No rattles if its done right. You do have to replace the whole panel if you want the 03 silver trim because its all ONE PIECE from the factory. Removing the trim pieces is exactly what I did. If someone were to produce real aluminum trims you'll still have to take ALL the panels off to replace them. You can't just pull them off with the panles still on the car. So you can spend 800+ on new panels 100-200 on real aluminum replacements that you'll have to do just as much work for to put them on. Or spend 15 bucks and do what I did. Up to you. Those trims don't have individual part numbers. I got your basic 1400 watt amp pushing 2 12's and no rattles whatsoever.

A little confused why you say that you'd have to remove pieces to put our aluminum trim kit on. It applies the same way the blackwood trim kit does...over the existing trim...

Thanks again for all of the replies.

Austin519 - Sorry about the misunderstanding. I did read the post. I just though it was the same type of dash kit that you see around. I just read it again. It could have been a little more detailed about the trim kit and having pieces to cover the stock wood. Is there any way I will be able to just get the 6 pieces to cover the stock wood to make mine look like the '03 models? If so, I am definitely in. I wood probably order a set in a second, pending price of course.

I did a little more searching to find the original post that I mentioned. Still no luck. It was some guy that won it off of ebay. Just a clue to see if anyone else remembers,

Keep us posted on the trim kits.

Thanks,
juice

Not a bit . Yeah the post is confusing because soopa told me awhile back that there were people who made the trim and shift plates for you guys...but that fell through. But I didn't know it had until like last week. So that's all been a big rush on the trim etc. The kit itself covers everything, all the wood pieces and a lot of the black plastic pieces...for TL's I want to say it'll be a 29 piece kit...which means for CL's it'll be 27 piece (no rear door pieces). You can get just parts of it...but it will not be too much cheaper than the whole kit...some yes, but not a lot. The reason is because these kits are being mass produced...and we will have to treat yours as a special case, make only specific parts, blah blah blah. The price for the entire CL kit is $205, maybe a little less, probably around $200 (I won't know till we make one). I don't know how much yours would price out at...probably $150 or so. But I can check for you. Tell me exactly what pieces you need again. Also, know that we'll be taking care of you after everyone else who wants full kits (obviously), so yours will be a little delayed. I will keep you posted on the kits in the groupbuy thread

The only parts that I would be interested in would be the 6 pieces to cover the fake wood trim.

- the 2 along the center console
- 1 on each door - 2 total
- 1 on each on the sides of the back seat - 2 total

I may also be interested in the shift plate

How is this going to go on? I also guess that it is going to be impossible to see before I purchase. Being I am at the bottom of the list, I will be able to get all of the reviews. How close to the '03 will the trim pieces that I am asking for look? Sorry for all of the questions. I just really liked the look of the '03 when I saw it and want it to look as close as possible.

Thanks,
juice

Ohh you're referring to the trim kits only? i thought he wanted to change the bowling ball trim altogether. Like the 03 CL's where there is no bowling ball trim at all anymore and its replaced by silver plastic...because in that case if it was just a cover for the bowling ball trim on the doors, a stick on piece would'nt fully cover all of the bowling ball because the leather kind of presses up against that plastic trim really closely.

Ah but it will...the metal molds to the current trim. Trust me on this one, they've already pre-fitted it before sending it to me, and it looks beautiful. No old trim showing...anywhere.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Is it just a sticker? How close to the '03 trim does it look? About how much do you think it will be for just those 6 pieces of trim?

Thanks,
juice

Also...I don't know what the 03 trim looks like...but no, this stuff is not a sticker...it's real aluminum. It just has extremely strong 3M double sided tape on it.

Austin519 -

I am very interested in covering the 6 pieces of fake wood trim. You know, the bowling ball looking stuff. There is one piece on each door. There is also on piece on each of the rear side panels. There is 2 more pieces, one down each side of the center console. 6 tolal.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry for not being around lately guys...these past two weeks have been studying for finals...and now these next two are finals...if I may direct you guys to the trim/sills thread in this forum...the link I posted earlier. Juice I still haven't asked about how much it would be for you...but I will. Don't worry, no need to repost in the main thread...I'll remember.
