Broken seat heater

Does anyone know how much the dealer charges to fix the passenger seat heater in '03 CL-S? Also how hard is it to remove the passenger seat do to its motors? I have replaced seat covers before on my '99 Galant I had Katzkin interior made for the seats & door panels and installed it myself it wasn't that hard once I got the hang of it the hardest part was removing the old hog rings. Those were basic shaped seats the CL-S has more of a sport seat & I have a feeling it's gonna be a pain to re-attach the seat covers cuz of the higher bolsters so I'd rather have someone else do it if it's not ridiculously expensive.

What's wrong with the seat heater? Is it the switch or the heating element?

There is a very cheap DIY thread in the 2G TL thread for fixing the seat heaters, so take a wander over there and you should be able to find it pretty quickly.

As far as the passenger seat motors, are you talking about the reclining motor? If so I can give you a decent idea how on how to do that (it is pretty simple). It gets quite a bit more complicated if you have to replace the whole gear set for the recliner, but still doable.

I also had to do this, its not hard. If you're worried about re-fitting the leathers don't they go on without much trouble. All you need is the hog ring and hog ring pliers but it sound like you already do. Job took about 3 hours from start to finish.

I assume its the heating element cuz the light on the switch lights up when you turn it on. So if the switch lights up its gotta be the heating element right?

Happened to my seat last winter. Pulled off the Leather to find a burt wire with a big burn hole around it. It almost started to burn the Leather.
Fixed it without a problem but it was a pain in the ass for sure. The hog rings are brutal, and I had the correct pliers to use. Your hands will be so sore when your done.

Here's a tip that may help: One of my boys is a alarm, radio, navi, heated seat etc.. installer for a big dealership around here. He just cuts the hog rings pulls them out and re-installs the Leather with small zip ties. Says it saves him lots of time and pain.
