I heard a pop sound when backing out of my driveway on Friday. I didn't pay much attention. When driving on GSP last night, I started to hear some knocking noise once in a while especially when passing some road dents/bumps. I took a look underneath the car this morning, my Comptech front sway was broken at the right side wheel. Has anyone had or heard of sway broken? Do you know what's Comptech's warranty is like? Thanks.

 

Warranty is two years from purchase I think. Are you sure that the sway bar broke or was it the end link that attaches to the end of the sway bar. End links have been known to break. S/b a $20 part from the dealer.

 

like all out said check the end links, I snapped mine twice, both times in the front and both times during hard turning. Sway bars are pretty beefy so i would be surprised if it broke, then again if rusted like the springs i guess t's possible.

 

Thanks for the info. I don't have an exact picture in my mind about the sway bar design. But when I looked underneath the car this morning I saw it break about a foot away from the wheel. The shorter piece touched the ground when I went over bumps and that's what got me started looking underneath. I think it's part of the sway bar, is it? Now I felt stupid about replacing with the Comptech. Frankly I didn't feel that much a difference when cornering (Comptech vs Stock). I felt even more stupid for not keeping the replaced stock sway.

Even though I think it has to be some defect for such thick piece to just break, unfortunately it has passed two years period. Emails to Comptech were not replied.

 

Call Comptech, don't waste time with e-mails because they don't respond.
