Brake Pads ?
#2
If you want to keep dusting low and have long life, ceramic pads (OEM on late-model CLS's) are probably the best bet.
To get highER performance, I believe you would have to switch to a non-ceramic pad. These cause lots more dusting (quickly getting the wheels and sides of the car dirty) They also tend to wear quicker. They would probably stop quicker too, but do you have a problem with stopping now? The stock pads are pretty darn good in that department--fade is non-existent on my 03 CL. There is NO dusting.
I'm not aware of any higher-performance ceramic brakes. The high performance stuff I've seen is non-ceramic.

I have Axxis Metal Masters, and I like them well enough. I installed them on 05-25-03, and I've had them on for about 17,000 miles. They certainly produce more dust than the stock pads, but the rims clean up quite easily. It's extra work, but it's not unbearable, and I think it's worth it for the (perceived) better braking.
