Brake Life

How many miles have folks gotten out of the OEM brakes? I have an '01 CL-P with 75K and the dealer replaced the front pads and rotors at about 25K so rears are original. I have had the warped rotors for a while but the brakes work fine with no squealing from the wear indicators yet. I realize this can vary with type of driving but curious about others' experience.

The OEM rotors are prone to warping. For the next set I suggest a set of EBC, Powerslot, or Racing Brake rotors. They are more expensive then the stock rotors, but they are more resistant to warping. OEM pads are decent for regular daily driving though.

I wouldnt drive on the warped rotors too long. It puts additional strain on the other suspension parts. With only 50k on the front rotors, you should be able to have them resurfaced.

technically rotors are supposed to last the life of the car, I am still on my original rotors and have put 150k on mine, but I have nsx calipers as well

Just depends on how you drive.

I have already had the original front rotors resurfaced 2X which warp again so I will likely resurface. I don't drive a lot with this car (maybe 4K per year) but I live in the SF Bay Area so lots of hills and traffic. I have a feeling that with 50K on fronts since replaced pads and rotors (dealer did it when car was under warranty 7 years ago) and original on rears (75K) and will need to replace all. The car is an 01 and will be taking car to dealer for timing belt and tensioner but will have someone else do the brakes and rotors. Big $ week for the car but has been a good one aside from tranny which dealer replaced for free 2 years ago at 63K- counting on this one lasting.

My god. My brakes are replaced like every 2-3 years... They squeal, they warp. I think I should invest in some good ones next set...

Just had brakes checked yesterday on my 01 CL-P as the vibrating wheel at highway speeds from warped rotors was driving me nuts. Had front rotors and brakes done which dealer covered under warranty at 26K and now have 75K (lasted 50K with 2 rotor resurfacing). Independent shop that did work now said rears still have 40% left. Kind of amazing since I live in SF Bay Area with lots of hills and traffic.

I did pads all around and front rotors at 95K. Upgraded to Brembos at the front as the stock rotors were warped. Unless the rotors are warped, you almost always only need to replace the pads. Don't even turn the rotors as the pads will match with them very quickly. I know times are tough, but you need the money in your pocket just as badly as the shop.

I try not to use my brakes. All they do is slow me down.
