Brake Fluid Change
Brake Fluid Change
It's been about three years now since the car was purchased, so I guess it's time to change my brake fluid? Do you guys follow the book and change it at 3 years?
Just checking.. Thanks

I did mine recently. You will need an equipment made for that purpose. It's like a vacuum pump, similar to the top side oil pump, to draw the brake fluid at the calipers. One person can do it. Best to power jack to raise the car to save time
I need to change the brake fluid on my bus soon, so I've done some research on power bleeders.
Here the one I'm planning on buying:

and here's a webpage to make your own from a small garden spayer, some tubing and a couple compression fittings:

Be careful here, brake fluid is INSTANT DEATH to paint! Do not get some on your fingers, and touch the body. anywhere.
Curious though, about the power brake bleeding systems here. Doesn't it seem counter intuitive to try to power air down in a system, when it wants to rise? On airplanes, we just replace the bleeder nipple with a new one ($2 each, so we know it is clean), and pump the fluid in from the caliper, forcing the entrapped air up. Doesn't that make a lot of sense?
