Early last month I ordered the full bra from AH Motor. Sunday was the third time I ever had it on. Much to my disappointment, the lettering on the hood bra is NOT sliver. It is metal letters with "foil" type, chrome looking stick on letters! That was a disappointment as the foil is peeling off. Anyone else ever have this problem? I sent it back to AH Motor yesterday. They said they will send it to Acura to see what to do. Here are some pics.

Yes, I'm going to replace it and try another one. AH said that Acura would have to make the determination. If they don't have an improved version, then I'm going to tell them to send me a supply of foil letters so that when they peel off I can replace them myself instead of paying to send the bra back to AH!

This is the biggest problem I've had with my Cl so far!

I sent the bra back to AH. This morning I got to thinking about AH's warranty and what the guy there told me on Monday about contacting ACURA and having them okay the return. I figured that this would take WEEKS, so I decided to e-mail AH and quote THEIR warranty policy from their site. The guy called me a little while ago to explain what the policy was. He wanted to know if I ever went through the car wash with the bra on! I said- CAR WASH! I haven't been through a car wash since 1990!!

Anyway, he's UPS'ing a new one out today. I asked if anyone else has ever had this problem. His response- nope! I said- oh boy. You're beginning to sound like my former award winning "5-STAR" Chrysler dealer. He said that ALL the Acura bras for all models are made the same way- chintzy foil letters stuck on to the ACURA metal underneath!

Next, I called Acura. Pretty much got the same answer- never had this problem before. He said if I bought it at an Acura dealer it would be guaranteed for a year. I said yea and I would have paid about $60-70 or more for it. I told him that maybe this was just a fluke. If I have the problem again with the new bra, I will pursue this further. The first time I put the bra on the car was Mother's Day, then again for a trip to the casino and then Father's Day last Sunday! I THINK the foil covering should have lasted longer then that.

Wayne-Jens- ever have this happen at your dealership or hear of anything like this?

I have NO clue. I just wanted an authentic ACURA bra, but didn't want to pay the price the dealer wanted for it. Got it from AH because it was the real thing AND it was much cheaper!

Already got the new bra via UPS today. Looks like it's the SAME foil covered letters, but I'll see how it holds up.

The guy at AH Motor made SURE to enclose another installation sheet and WRITE IN under the Cleaning the nose mask section- "DO NOT USE AUTOMATIC CAR WASH w/ BRA INSTALLED!" I ALREADY told him that I do NOT go through car washes. I know that there is going to be a problem if these letters peel off too. This is the LAST thing I need- fighting with AH Motor OR Acura over this! I dealt with enough shit with Chrysler in the 33 months I had my 99 300M to last a LIFETIME!

Time will tell.
