Body Work/ Paint and Touch up

A friend of mine accidently put a nice gash in the paint on my passenger side door a few weeks back. I have recently gotten several estimates to fix this ddamage. The best one I got from a body shop was $450 which included blending to the quarter panels, etc.

Now, the other day I was recommended to call a place called Colors on Parade. ( www.colorsonparadeoc.com ) This is a mobile body shop if you will. They quoted me anywhere from $175 to $250 and they said they don't need to do any blending of the quarter panels because my scratch is small enough to do a "panel fix".

They come to your work or home and mix the paint right there in their vans and have the fix done in just a few hours.

They warrany their work for a year.

Has anyone ever heard of this company? What are your thoughts? They claim that they can make the car look like new. Is this possible? They also do touch up so I think I'll be getting all my chips touched up too.

Any thoughts on this being a good/bad idea would be appreciated.

TIA

go to http://www.paintscratch.com. They will match your paint perfectly and you can order fine grit sandpaper, clearcoat, and rubbing compound and use their full directions to do it yourself!!! I bought all the stuff from them for 34 bucks and the match is PERFECT!!!

Have you done this before? Pics? How much "elbow grease" is involved? I've tried to do bondo work before and hate sanding.

Don't do it. They use an airbrush process that will last 1.5-2 years, tops. There is no match for a factory or body shop baked-on finish. It will look great now, but you won't be happy in the long run (unless you are preping to sell).

I had small chips to repair on the hood because the stock paint job SUCKS so bad. I don't have pictures, but if I did, you wouldn't be able to tell because they were so small. It all depends on the size of your scratch. I can tell you that the color match is perfect. Even if you bought the stuff from the site and then had a pro do it for you, it would still be MUCH cheaper than that place you talk about.
