Body Roll?

Can someone please explain what is the cause of body roll on the car? Is it the weight, springs, sway bar? If it is the sway bar why would Acura not install larger sway bars to begin with? Do some people like body roll in automobiles? Also how is the structural rigidity of the CL body? Sorry for the array of questions. Thanks in Advance

Almost all cars come with some form of body roll. To reduce the body roll, you will need to lower the car with aftermarket springs, and tighten it up with aftermarket sways. The reason it doesn't come from the factory like that is b/c it gives a rougher ride. Acura is a luxury car company, so on any model above the RSX you can almost guarantee that they are not going to sell their cars with a rough ride. It comes from the factory with a balance of handling and comfort. Then, if you want to alter the ride and performance yourself, you can modify the car.....

For more info than you ever wanted about swaybars and body roll, see:

The main point is that there is always a tradeoff... There is a reason cars have independent suspensions for "body roll", and that is to ease up the forces acting on the tires.

If you get super-stiff sways and have bad rubber, it doesn't do you any good.

Body roll stems from weight transfer. The only way to reduce it is, as juniorbean said, to stiffen up and shorten the springs and anti-roll bars. Also, reducing overall weight helps...

You are never going to get rid of it though...
