your probably expecting a better car from bmw :P

a bmw 325ci 2001 vs acura cl type-s 2001

 

The type s by 2 seconds.

 

in straight line acceleration the CLS will win. In an autox the bimmer will probably win.

Auto cross...you have to turn right and left through a set track.

 

Unless you think about manul 325 and you care about power and speed anything less than 330 would not cut it!! I test drove 325 step and it is Slooowww!!
On the other hand 330Ci manual would beat CL-S but CL-S should still beat 330Ci step by .1, .2 secs.

To be honest, I belive 330Ci is really more fun to drive, power delivery is smooter and quicker than CLS.. But with the same options you pay about $10K more..
I guess money is not a concern for you go for 330Ci, if you can only afford 325 then I would recommend CL-S bec IMO you get more car for the money you pay!!
