Bloomington Acura Dealership

For my TC peeps....

Did you know that Bloomington Acura will wash your Acura whenever you want for free?

They don't do the greatest job, but it's good for getting the salt off the car when it's fuckin cold outside.

I found this out because I recently had my car in there for an oil change, and it took them an hour and 20 minutes!!! And they require an appointment for oil changes. Anyway, they didn't say anything when I complained while I was there, so I wrote an email to their district manager. A few days later I get a call back from a manager saying that they are going to refund me for the oil change. During our conversation, the manager was trying to get me to come back to their dealership (which I said I would never do in my email) and mentioned that they wash cars for their customer for free... anytime.

Do other Acura dealerships do this in other states?

Im in NJ, and Im pretty sure at most dealers, if you bring the car in for anything (oil change, etc.) you get the car back washed.

Yeah, I think it is so stupid that Bloomington Acura requires you to schedule an oil change. Its a flippin oil change. Usually, they take forever so I just have someone come pick me up. They also always ask me if I want them to run it through the wash and vaccum. Of course I always have them do it. I have generally had good service there and thats about usually how long they take because the actual techs do the oil changes which is kinda stoopid imho. I didnt know that they let you go there anytime and wash your car for free. How do you go about doing this. I have never even seen the car wash before

According to the manager that called me... you just drive in like you're going in for service, tell them you just want it washed, and they'll take care of you. I think you have to be a customer (read: had service done there before), but as long as you're already in the system, they'll wash it for you free of charge.

Today I went in for an oil change. They did a 8K miles oil change (62K now, don't have to be back til 70K), adjusted tire pressure, topped off all the fluids, washed and vacuumed the interior...all for $29. They used the "genuine Acura" oil filter and Castrol oil. It took them like an hour. Sometimes I wonder how much money these people make and where exactly the profit comes in, but I'm a happy customer!

This was @ Continental Acura in Naperville.

I can do an oil change in 8 minutes flat, never have to leave home, and not have to worry about some dumbass driving my car around. I guess to some people laying on your back under your car for a couple minutes isnt worth it.

FWIW I get the "best" filter you can buy (Mobil 1) and use Mobil oil per Acura's specs. Overall it costs $20/oil change at most.

Plus, I change my own oil during the summer. It's just too damn cold during the winter for me, I'm not from around here originally. Not used to doing work on my car when it's 5 degrees outside.

I ALWAYS change my own oil...I last changed it on a Jan. day when it was 11F outside...that was damn cold, but I still feel more satisfied when I do it myself. Better filter, better oil, and it doesn't really take that long, even if it is cold outside.
Every once in a while I use my dad's heated garage when it's too cold out, but he doesn't have any tools there.

Shook: You can take your old oil to ANY Checker Auto Stores or AutoZone and just drop it off for free, and they'll take care of it for you. They do it for free now to keep cheapasses from dumping it down the sewer.

Free wash and vacuum whenever I want. However, I don't like it when they wash my car because they use scrubbers in an automated wash.
