blizzaks

i have priced the ws-50's and i generally get a price of 110$ per tire mounted and balanced. 205/60/16 even ebay has slim pickins on used blizzaks. anyone know where else to get em cheap? even if i have to get em mounted or if they come w/cheap rims. i also use paypal if anyone knows

Tirerack will mount them on plain steel wheels so you can save a bunch.

that is true, only on the CL, not the type s. I tried to get those, but they said the steel wheel isn't big enough to clear the larger rotors on the type s.

I bought the Blizzak WS-50s in 17" from Tire Rack last season. I think they were around $110 each. To get them mounted and balanced locally cost around $40 or so ($10/wheel).

I found the rims right in our Black Market. Someone local was selling them, so I scooped them up cheap and use them in the winter.... so, check the Black Market to see what around.

check on michelin alpin's they have been reasonable with prices, i know its apples and oranges, but we don't reccomend blizzaks for mercedes due to the tire being so "squishy" it upsets the esp system, good grip though, but alpins have been really good also and don't seem to have as much of a "gummy bear" tread to them

I purchased 16" steel wheels and Blizzak WS-50 tires for my RSX-S, and was all set to sell them after I traded the little car for my 2003 CL-S M/T. But I decided to check with Tire Rack and found out that the 16" steel wheels they spec for the RSX-S are the same 16" wheels they spec for the CL standard model. Knowing that the rotor diameters (11.8" front and 11.1" rear) are the same for the CL and the CL-S (they do differ from the RSX to the RSX-S), I called my Acura parts man to see if the steel wheels he lists for the CL are the same as those he lists for the CL-S. The dealer said they list the same steel wheels for both models. I have not mounted the wheels yet, but I am confident that they will fit. Specs are:

Wheels - Rim width range 5.5 to 7.5, 16X6.5, 5-114 64 CB, black, 20 holes.

Tires - Blizzak WS-50 205/55QR16

You might want to double check with your dealer to see if they agree that the steel wheels for the CL and CL-S are the same. All indications I have say that they are. This means you can order the 16" CL steel wheels from Tire Rack for your CL-S and save $$$.

Like I said, I haven't mounted them yet.

when i worked for a tire shop i had the opportunity to go to a BLIZZAK demonstration put on by bridgestone. we got to drive these new volvos on an ice rink with different tire setups. it was amazing how well the blizzaks handled on the perfectly smooth ice. night and day from all season tires.

Acura dealer told me the 16" steel rims will fit on the CL-S. He said they are the same steel rims as used on the Honda Odessey. No acura dealer in my town so I have to go to Honda for some stuff.

edit: part number for the rim 42700 S0XA01

$85 @ rim
$168 @ Alpins (215/55)
$115 @ BFG (205/60)
$150 @ Blizzaks (205/60)

Those prices are in $Cdn from the dealer.

I do intend to run these rims and tires on the CL-S this winter. I think you can get a better deal ordering a CL steel rim and tire package from Tire Rack than you can ordering the same setup from the dealer. When I compared prices, the dealer was way higher than Tire Rack, even considering shipping.
