i want to get some rims that are 17x7 with a 42 offset...will this work and is 14.5 pounds per rim heavy.....i want to stay with rim size and go with a more aggressive drop..thanks

+42 will "fit"... but you will get a "dose" of torque steer from the change in offset -- you will be moving the tire center by 13 mm and you could do better...

The weight isn't bad, but I sure hope you getting forged wheels that weigh 14lbs -- cast wheels that are light don't tend to stand-up too well.

You might want to consider getting into some 17x7.5s, in +48 - +52 to keep the torque steer down. (You could also fit some 235/45-17s -- and align the car, keep the wheel weight down, and still get everything to fit with a half decent drop...

BTW, there is no doubt that a 17x7" will fit with a +42 offset.

The SSRs in a 17x8 +48 weight about 14 lbs each -- and they are semi-solid forged...

The stock rims are around 26lbs each.....)

BTW, a 17x7 +42 would stick out about 1/2 more than the OEM rims.
