BIG TOPIC:When To Shift??(noobs need expert advice)

Hey guys... Most of you all know how to shift and all with the Tiptronic on...and I have burned a few Integras, Civics with my "strategy". Which i know is incorrect. So i wanted to get the input of a few other ppl on when and "how" to shift it. Thanks. Im running stock right now. Haven't got $ for mods yet, my Eclipse Audio System broke the piggy bank =(

Wide open throttle on races and you can get 1st up to 6500-6900 before it shifts to 2nd automatically then you have to shift from there

I can usally shift right just by the feel and sound of the car. If I remember some one calculated to optimal shift points and theny were all at 7.1k. You need to shift a couple hundred before redline because it takes a second to react to the shift (its not fun to hit the rev limiter). Also the 1-2 with the car floored will run all the way to 6.7-6.8k (for me at least)

Anyone of you guys live in So. Cali? I like in San Pedro, PV area. If you don't live in SO. CALI, then lets say any places where i can "safely" drag near Long Beach? I know there is no SAFE place...but a place with less chance of a 5-0 stoppin by! =) thanks.

At the track, I use 1-2, D3. This way, I can modulate my wheel spin off the line without having to worry about the automatic upshift from 1 to 2. I shift at 6700. By the time the transmission reacts, you'll be hitting redline .

It seems to me when you leave it in SS and it shifts for you, your not going to be in the vtec range again. on mine it takes a sec to get back in that range. So I use d1,d2,d3 so I can go a little higher than the auto shift so I will stay in the vtec rangefor 2nd.

But what about those few seconds that you lose shifting from D1 to D2 the D3 then back into SS....Or do you skip 3 and go from D2 to SS?

At the track, in the 1/4 mile, you don't need to get into SS mode. You'll cross the line by D3. On the streets, just leave it in SS mode, if you're into street racing.
