sheeit. i'm very interested in this now. How much work is it to port the manifold to accomodate the increased airflow?

It's not too difficult to port the manifold (although you have to remove the entire manifold and take it apart!)

If I were to make a completely new billet throttle-body from a block of aluminum... it will cost upwards of $1K. Basically... I need the back-plate machined and the TPS alignment/calibration. The throttle-plate and actuator assembly are from a generic honda throttle-stem (the legnth of which I can't modify) and the cable-mount. There are slight mods you need to make... but its very easy. The raw materials themselves plus labor is just shy of $400, so I probably make like $20... which honestly isn't really worth it.... unless I do like 3 of them!

I won't sell it unless I try it out and it is relatively painless to use. I have been using mine for about a month or so now.

You HAVE to port the intake manifold inlet... or else its pointless!

The TB's for the auto and 6mt are identical

If you don't port the inlet (the entrance to the manifold... or inlet to the S/C) it wouldn't make much of a difference...

OK so for about $450 (give or take) u could probably do a TB w/ IAC for cold and Cruise Control?

Now is that for a new TB or ~$450 to modify our?

Like u said it would be pointless to add an aftermarket TB without boring out the intake manifold inlet. Only the inlet has to be bored or the entire manifold?

Yes, it would be an entirely new throttle-body.... you'd keep your stock one in storage

Yes... the inlet to the intake manifold needs to be ported and polished.

Okay, so say if I buy the big bore TB, before I install it, I should get someone to P&P my intake manifold inlet too? or is that a seperate piece that we can get you to do also?

Sorry, I just don't have it very clear in my mind... I'm very interested in this mod too!

Remember that its NOT porting and polishing the ENTIRE intake manifold... just the inlet (where the TB bolts onto) where you need to take off about 3mm all around (~6mm of metal in all).
It's pretty thick... so its a bit of work.

To do this:

(1) Remove the entire intake manifold
(2) Take it apart
(3) Port and sand it
(4) Re-assemble
(5) Cut the TB gasket to the appropriate size
(6) Reinstall everything

I don't mind doing the porting... but the damn bits cost around $40 to do the job one-time!

First things first... I need to find out if I can make a TB with IAC!

New one for ~$450 that would allow all the functions that come with the car. I'm down, and have the cash transferability to prove it, PayPal.

Ok now to be technical the manifold inlet needs to be "port matched" .

I am also down for this change out and have no problem paying you for your time and bits, because I know I could not do this. How difficult would the p&P on the s/ced inlet be in comparison to the standard auto? any diffence at all?

Anyone else interested? What if Allmotor's dyno can show gains?

Allmotor, please let me know how your project is coming along, I am excited to hear an update

If it's not, it may be considering trading my 02 in for an 04. :P
