Best CAI Advice Needed

I'm obviously a newby (CL Type S is my first car EVER!) and have a question about the CAI. I see that people have installed both the AEM, Xepher, and others. What's the best one for the money? I live in San Diego, do I really need the air bypass? How's the Injen CAI? Finally, I couldn't find the installation faq. Please point me the right way oh masters...

you could go with any number of CAIs. Xypher isn't offered anymore. Most say costs is the biggest difference. You don't need a bypass but do you need an airbag? My point is insurance is insurance, always good to have an option as opposed to no option.

Either way (AEM, or Injen) are great products. I'm partial to AEM from previous experience. Get the bypass for safety sake (it's not a lot of money now, but a blown engine is!)

There is no doubt that Xephyr was the best priced/featured product for the money. His was $200 with the by-pass valve installed. That's what I have but since the owner ticked off so many people by his bone-headed decisions we wll renamed them PAA (Park Ave Acura) CAI. You can call Park Avenue Acura in Maywood NJ (Area code 201) and inquire. They had a few left but I don't know what color they have. Since the CAI requires no warranty, I would not feel in the least bit risky to buy one of his. Since the CAI mounts so low in the front of the car ahead of the driver's side wheel, it wouldn't take much to get water in there. It's cheap insurance as my peers have said. I know San Diego.....it doesn't rain for many months and then you can get 3" in a day. Of course as always, this is just my opinion. You will get a ton of differing ones here.

Is Injen CAI compatible with AEM air bypass valve?

I read somewhere (maybe AEM website) that the air bypass valve is NOT compatible with the InJen CAI. Both are 3' so is there any reason to believe them? Installing it doesn't void the manufacturer's warranty does it? Thanks.

It's not that it's not compatible. AEM just says that if u use one of their Bypass Valves, that u must use it on one of their CAI's. Nothing to do with compatability, just AEM doens't want to warranty other manufacturer's parts and in part to shun u away from a competitors product by being able to offer something they can't.
