Beat a new Maxima

Driving back from the club I see a 2002 white Maxima with zeon lights in my rearview mirror. He passes me and we stop at the light, I rev my engine at him and he takes the bait. The light turns green and we both have good launches we are pretty much even thru first. When we get into second I can hear his tires chirp. To my surprise I start to pull slowly. I don't know but it seems in the higher RPM ranges that's where I would pull...seems like the Maxima runs out of gas in the higher RPM...Maxima guys help out with this one. This was a great race and we ran until 95-100 with me winning by 1 car. The guy turns off at the next light and I head home happy. No flames please. I have respect for the Maxima and like what Nissan has been doing...hell my next car might be the G35 coupe.

Yea i would like to know if it was auto or manual. I think that auto vs auto its a drivers race. I kinda want a new CL 6 speed after seeing the 1/4 times. Im sure a good driver with I/H will hit high 13s.

Just curious...seems like Englishtown pulls best numbers for all cars. Is there a difference between Englishtown and Carlsbad? I know one is on East Coast the other on the West. Is altitude truly that much of a factor?

you are lucky. I have a 98 CL 3.0 but I lost to my friend's 97 maxima. Both have 200hp, but for some reason his car beat me. But I think he beat me by 1 car length, maybe less. I don't remember it was a while ago.

Just had a quetion....how can an auto vs auto be a driver's race? Isn't it more of a "car's race?" Cuz all you have to do is stomp on the accelerator and let the car work....whereas a 5 or 6 speed manual would be more of a "driver's race" cuz that'll depend on how good of a stick driver you are. I dunno what you meant by "driver's race" and was just kinda confused on what you meant by that.

For small displacement engines, I would say it's a "car's race". But with the Type S, if you stomp on the pedal, then basically the wheels spin free, smoke comes out of the tires and you are not going anywhere. With Sport Shift, if you just wait 'till red line and shift with your foot sticks to the floor, the rpm will drop about ~2.5K. If you shift, let go of the pedal for a tick then stomp it, rpm revs up and then the splush box shifts with minimal rpm drop. I dont know if doing this will cause the tranny to fail faster or not, but it's definately cause the car to run faster. Therefore, I can say "Yes, it's a driver's race."

Any race could be a drivers race... you get two different drivers the exact same car (auto OR manual), line them up, and I guarntee you they will not tie...

Hey silverknight, so u mean in SS, when u want to shift, u let go of the gas, shift and then floor it, or u keep u foot on the gas, shift, then let go for a sec and floor it?
