Beat my friend's new Audi A6 2.7T

My friend just got a new Audi 2.7 T auto over the weekend and has been talking shit ever since. Now I must admit I was a little worried...I mean AWD, Bi-turbo, and 250hp. We lined up at a light and I beat him by two cars by 60, I shut it down because of the light ahead. He was so shocked, but he did give my car props. I just knew he would beat me to 30 but he didn't. In all fairness his car is not broken in and only has 200 miles on it, we will have to race again when his car is fully broken in.

Yeah, you are right about that. I wish we had a chip that gave us an instant 50 hp!

Just some numbers on the A6 2.7T Tiptronic.
stock its runs ~14.9(perfect conditions) to 15.1 (90 degrees at Pomona last year.) They are a heavy car with the Tip weighing in at 3850lbs. )0-60 stock is 6.4-6.6. I think the TL_S numbers are alittle quicker. Been trolling the Acura boards, cause I'm looking at info on the CL-S ot TL-S for a future buy for my better half. Used to own a 3.0CL.
A6 Tip will have lag time from a standstill. Turbo's kick in after 1800 and the 258 lbs of torque is from 1850 to ~4400. After the slight hesitation then the cars pulls nicely, but is still a fat pig at 3850lbs!!. Top speed is governed at 136 and that is reached in 4th gear of the 5speed Tiptronic.
A chipped A6 2.7T Tiptronic runs 5.5's and 14.0's at the strip (Carlsbad). It has 315hp and ~360lbs of torque!. In most day to day driving under normal operating temps those numbers are 5.7's 0-60 and ~14.3-14.4's at the strip. These were all done at Carlsbad. We got the 0-60 times using the Gtech while running the 1/4 to get a correlation. THe Gtech was always within .05 of the 1/4 time posted on the timeslip. Gtech works better with automatics too, cause the up and down motion of the manuals throw if off some. Also a chipped car loses the limitier but no real good sources have come forward and say what they have achieved. The fastest I have gone was 140 and will never do that again. Was still pulling real hard and I had just shifted into 5th. ~160 may be obtained but will not be by me!! Again just some numbers for you, and any thoughts on the CL-S or TL-s issue please speak out. Thanks

Hmmm...numbers seem fishy...not saying that they are...but they seem more like an S4. My friend ran his Tip at the track and only ripped a 15.1.
The a6 should be heavier than the s4 right?? And that is already 300 lbs. more than the CL...just an observation.

The stock A6 Tip times recorded 14.9(cold temp low 60's)to 15.1( that was ran 90 degrees at Pomona. In fact the 15.1 was ran against a stock S4 Tip which ran 14.828 in the heat. Some have run 14.6's in colder temps at strips.
The splits for the S4 at Pomona were
60' 2.296
330' 6.324
1/8 9.625@74.44
1000 12.454
1/4 14.828@94.95
Splits for the stock A6 were
60' 2.393
330' 6.522
1/8 9.903@72.47
1000 12.737
1/4 15.161@94.11
The S4 Tip surprisingly is only 100 lbs lighter than the A6 Tip. Amazing. Audiworld.com may have the specs of the S4 and A6 on their website.
The chipped times of the A6 were ran at Carlsbad in 60's temp. That same day at Carlsbad a chipped only Tip S4 ran 13.87( and killed me !!! LOL). I ran the 14.027 in my A6 versus a SVT lightning?? spelling?? and I lost to the trucks 13.96!!, those things can get up and move!!
Splits for my chipped A6 Tip on best run was
60' 1.981
330' 5.833
1/8 9.004
1/4 14.027@99mph
Was running Gtech also on that run and recorded 14.00@101mph with a 5.50 0-60mph.
I had 3 runs in a row of 14.06, 14.05 and 14.02, again it was perfect conditions for the turbos and quattro.
YOur friends A6 Tip ran 15.1, that sounds right in line with a stock A6 Tip. The best 0-60 time with Gtech we could get was 6.45.
Just reread your post and saw the time, nice run! 14.6 is very good and will surprise alot of unsuspecting victims! LOL

Considering a used 2.7T for the wife. They come down pretty quick and seems like I could get a good one for mid to high $30k's.

The more and more I learn about the new, hot cars the better and better my ten year old M5 impresses me. The engine was designed in 1989 yet the car is still faster than just a handful of four doors out there and mine is still going strong at 140k (and it is still the best sounding BMW engine ever, "mechanical wail" is how C&D described it). I simply couldn't see myself spending $50k for less performance and a bunch of electronic crap I don't need.

Would consider an Acura but the wife wants something "not Japanese" after 11 years in a Nissan. Sigh.

Be careful about used Audi A6 2.7T. The 2000 model had some fuel sender problems, instrument cluster problems. They do have a good pre owned program 4 yr 75000 warranty. But I would ask to see the service history on that vin ## just to be sure. THe above problems supposedly have been fixed. The engine in the A6(same as S4) seems to hold up very well, with very little turbo problems. The S4's people must drive the engine harder cause they have had some problems.
