i know this should be in the racing stories but it too late now. Anyways, nothing exciting, beat the CLK 430 AMG off the line and pretty much through every gear, we stopes at 100, the road was a little windy for those speeds. Any ?'s, let me know.

Why the a CLK AMG should lose for CLS!!???

3 reasons:

1) He is not racing.
2) He is not racer and was not pushing.
3) You are joking us

By the way, Stock MB CLK 430 0-60 6.1 (#s by MB). I do not know what the AMG is adding in performance mods.

First off there is no such thing as an AMG clk 430...it is a CLK55 AMG 5.5 liter 342 HP and a killer 370+ lbs of torque!

no way in hell you can beat it without a supercharger in a cl-s...
damn I have friends that have raced their gs400 with 340-350 hp, dragon torque converter and TRd LSD and lost!
this thing does...5.0-5.1 0-60, it's even faster than the awesome e55...plus the wait list is 14 months for this monster.

We are right on par with the CLK430 all the way too the speed limiter.

There is a CLK 430 AMG ... its a CLK 430, with the AMG package, which includes wheels, body kit, and some other stuff. I believe there are no performance mods as part of that. A CLK430 and CLS race should be close though. The CLK 55 AMG is a different story though

i am a litlle late to this, but i posted beating a 430 as well. and yes, they have an amg kit and wheels. their drivers are just slower because they are so f ing fat and rich that it slows the car down a couple of tenths.

FYI the CLK430 with an AMG (body)kit can also come with an AMG badge, so, if they remove the CLK430 badge, it looks exactly like a debadged CLK55. I think it's kinda lame that they sell that straight from the dealer, but that's just my $.02

It's Nogaro Blue (aka smurf blue, superman blue, etc etc ) Didn't get the two-tone interior, just plain "silver" (which is really just light grey).

I think I posted one of my exp. w/ a clk 430. we both fot off the exit ramp and he had a head start. he was indeed ahead of me by a car lenghth to start w/ but we both gunned it and it was the exact same length, he didn't pull away nor did I gain but at around 100 we looked over and stared at my car for a moment.

this is to all the mis-informed CL-S owners who think that there is a CLK430 AMG.....there is NO such animal. ALL CLK430's come with the AMG bodykit and AMG 5 spoke rims....some years may even come with a chrome, oval AMG stamped exhaust tip. THAT"S IT. They DO NOT come badged from the dealer as AMG...never have and never will.

The only reason why the 36's, 43's, 55's, 32's, 65's, and 63's are badged as AMG is for the ENGINE!!!!!! handbuilt, and pretty much everything in it is forged.

Now for the CL-S keeping up with a CLK430 up to 100+ MPH....NO WAY.

I've owned a 03' CL-S 6 speed, a 99 CLK430, and I now own a 01' CLK55 AMG.

I can assure you that unless you bolt on a S/C onto the CL-S, there is no way the CL-S will keep up with a CLK430.

The CLK55 is a different animal....too many mods need to be done to the CL-S to even keep up.

My CL-S was a really nice, reliable car. I'm not bashing on it at all....just clearing up confusion here............

 

Dont base your opinions on mag times. Im sure he beat the CLK430, my uncle has a SL500 and i raced my cousing when he was driving it. The 100k dollar car could not pull on my CL-S with intake and headers. We were pretty much even from 0-100mph. The CLK cant be faster than the SL500.
I dont own the CL-S anymore but it was a 03 5AT and it was no factory freak. Please dont flame on people if you dont have any experience racing one.

Thank you for posting that as you saved me some typing as far as no CLK430 AMG, as coming from a Mercedes as well I've seen how badly people get ripped apart for their AMG badging on a non-AMG engine.

Anyway, secondly, don't underestimate the CL-S. The '99 CLK430 runs a 14.5 0-60 which is around where a VERY lightly modded CL-S is at. You have to remember the CLK430 has weight on the CL-S.

The 275hp + weight of the CLK keeps the CL-S about even through the 1/4 mile, BUT the 295tq on the CLK430 will absolutely RAPE the CL-S over 100mph which happens to almost barely move once it hits 110mph.

I'm disappointed to see how misinformed this forum is and the weak baseless claims made by the members without any proof. Anyway, when it comes down to it, it's possible he ran pretty even with the CLK430 to 100mph as he said he did.

And the part about quoting stats from magazines...I didn't quote jack.... you should learn how to READ!

True. He probably raced a CLK 430 that had a kit and AMG rims on it, my friend has one. The only CLK AMG is a 55 like you stated above. With bolt-ons he could probably beat a stock CLK 430 though. If I remember correctly, they're like mid-high 14 sec. cars. 275hp/300tq, but they're heavy. My cousin's GS430 beat the same CLK 430 by 1 or 2 car lengths and the GS430s run 14.1-14.4 stock.

 

I think you just need to relax. No one here is claiming to be God and completely correct, so you can inform them without speaking condescendingly to everyone on the forum as you have so far. Read my post on the previous page, I said a lot of what you said without the condescending tone. So chill a bit and we can all speak about it in a mature matter, instead of name calling and insulting.

Also, simply because you've owned both cars it doesn't mean you know which is faster. The Acura CL-S will run even with a CLK430 through the 1/4 mile, numbers are numbers and that's simply the way it is, but over 100 mph your beloved CLK430 will win.

I own a GS430 and I think that my 03CLS6 would kill it. GS like the CLK430 heavy but a nice v8. Pushin a little more luxury but I still think if I were to run a CLK430 I would at least win by a couple of lengths
