Battery under warranty?

2001 CL-S, under 50,000 miles. Should I bother hassling the dealer for a battery? Or just shell out the $70 for a new one?

Who else has replaced theirs, and with what?

Doesn't the battery have its own warranty? I'd take a look at it and if it applies then I'd ask for a replacement.

Well...

I believe you need to take it back to the dealer, the battery should be pro-rated if nothing else.

How did it drain??

I've got the newest Consumer Reports in front of me now. Looks like warranty length ranges from 18mo./3yrs. If you don't get a new one from the dealer, look for the Exide Nascar Select or the Diehard WeatherHandler if you are in the South. The Diehard WH'er they sell in the North does not rate well. The magazine charged and discharged the batts until they died. Better test procedures than they have used before. Third place in the Group Size 35 (ours I think) was a NAPA The Legend 75 Pro. Good luck.

I beleive mine to be a group 24 size. 550A CCA(0degrees) You don't happen to have a scanner do you? I was actually searching for a good comparison of automotive batteries this afternoon. In any case, thanks for the info.
