Basic question - what is brake fade?

Well.... kinda like this, you turn a few hot laps or quick turns and brake hard and about the third or fourth time you depress the brakes, they feel kinda spongy and less grip, hence they are fading away.

The brakes get warm and therefore there is less friction so less stoping power, because brakes create friction. The vented brakes and brake ducts help by passing cold air through...cross drilled takes it the next step further.

Thanks guys! I sorta had it right in my head.

EricL - Excellent page the SE-R guys have! Maybe we could add this to our CL-S FAQ - Chod? Not really CLS specific ... but ...
