Bad things come in threes...

An otherwise great vacation in Hilton Head ended on three sour notes today. While driving home I got:

#1 - A speeding ticket in South Carolina. This was a dreaded "instant-on". I got nailed although surrounding traffic was equal in speed because I hit my brakes. That's what the cop said. It was for 86 in a 70. I should be thankful! Anyway, this was my first ever ticket with the V1... that's seven years.

#2 - While in Virginia the interior rearview mirror decided to "flop". Something inside broke and it became totally loose and unusable. I tried contacting Acura assistance by cell phone but they were pretty useless in finding an Acura dealer in transit. It seems they search by town names and zip codes and then they don't know the exact locations or proximity to route of travel. I was hoping to get it fixed at a dealer en-route. I gave up and then called my dealer who said they would fix it if I got there by 4:30. I got there with 10 minutes to spare and they began repairs with their only replacement unit. Then...

#3 - While replacing the mirror they cracked the windshield! It was a beautiful complete break from top to bottom. Oh well, it already had 3 stone chips in it. They gave me a TL and will replace the windshield with their only replacement unit tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your mishaps. At least out of state tickets don't put points on your license. On the bright side you got a new windshield with no chips.

I was on my way back from NC a couple years ago- got banged w/ a recklace driving ticket- something like 90 in a 50 or something... I hired a lawyer to show up at court for me for about $250, i stayed in NJ and he got me out of it... No fines or anything... I too had a clean record.

I hear diff. stories... Some people say the points follow you- some people say they don't... I didn't want to take any chances w/ a recklace.

Yes, as stated in number 2. The "interior rearview" mirror.

UPDATE!!!

The brand new and boxed replacement windshield had a large scratch in it. A new one is being overnighted for tomorrow's attempt at installation.

I must drive through SC at the right times. I speed all the time when I'm driving to NYC. I average about 95-100 with some sprints to 110+. But I drive at night. Some trips, my detector never even goes off driving through the whole state on I95.

Glad you're getting a new windshield out of it.
