Backin that a$$ up....

I'm lookin for thoughts on the taillights. I've got the '01 with mostly red taillights and a small square for the reverse light. I'm lookin to switch to the '03 taillights that are half-and-half. I want people to know when I'm backin up.

Do the '03's switch out perfectly with the '01's? And which do you like better?

Also, I want to put the PIAA bulb in the reverse light. Any thoughts?

Yeah the rear lights swap is a direct one. Very easy to do. The PIAA 19225's fit in there perfectly for the reverse light so i'd go with those.

I've got an 03 CLand i think the half and half look is much better then the solid red. Unless you have a red car in which case i actually think its look better solid.

I actually like the all red ones better, or maybe I just can't justify the cost of swapping perfectly functioning tail lights.

you can always tint the all red tails so to give it a smoked look.

one 'mod' I have never understood

people pay $300+ to have a white strip instead of a white box in their taillights? complete waste of money.

Well it does look different, but just not worth it to me. OTOH, I'd be much more willing to spend the $300 for some cleared headlights, which is even a smaller part of the respective light fixture that you are changing, but it looks so much better afterwards.

I have a black cl-s and to me all red tail lights look better than the new tail lights on black cl's, and I would rather spend $300 bucks on something else..

I second that. I have an '01 Black CL and think all red is the way to go. If the new ones were just labor, like the fronts, or about 1/8 of the cost I might consider. But otherwise the looks don't justify that price to me.

OK, when I first posted this thread, I was not aware of how much those damn things actually cost :ripped:

The point was to see which one everyone liked better. So which do you think LOOKS better, regardless of price? Except for you two with the black CL's, you already answered that.

I prefer the white/red combo personally but the TLS came with them like that to begin with. I don't mind the all red of the pre-03 CLs but personally I think the combo looks better.

Problem with the 01 t/l is that the reverse lights is so small, and there is so much red there that it makes that small reverse light look PINK :eew: when the lights are not on. I dissaprove of pink I like the 03 tailights because they are much whiter.... whitier.... whitey-er.... whatever, they look better because the reverse is not pink.

Now do I hate pink enough to spend $300? hmmm

If I'm getting the 03' tails can I also use the Polarg M2's for the reverse lights? or is PIAA 19225's the only option?

Thanks in advance.
